Members ArrMatey
I just tried the oc-2 and it was alright but its lower octave (the octave 2) is kinda useless or just a bit too subtle. Are there any good octavers for under $100 with decent tracking for bluesy/rock solos? Let's make a list of octave pedals: boss oc-2boss oc-3ebs octave pedal ( can't remember the name)pearl octaver (I wish I could find one!)danelectro chili dog (never tried) Anything else? Members SpectralJulian
The Dano Chili Dog is alright. You could also check out the EHX Octave Multiplexer.
Members Craigfnh
The Arion octave is really good, tracks better than the OC-2 imo.
Members ArrMatey
cool, the arion sounds like a good idea. No one would happen to have clips would they?
Members blanketman
Yeah +1 on the Arion. Similar to the boss but a little more . . . mmm, clean and focused sounding. Even better in my opinion was the DOD octoplus. It had the better tracking than the Arion or the Boss, had just as pure an octave tone as the Arion, but had a slightly warmer sound and better bass response IIRC, via a wet-signal tone control. Should be cheap too.
Members ArrMatey
question about the DOD: does it have 2 octaves or is it just a single octave down?
Members Boron
I've had the dano, the OC-2, and the behringer. If you want 2 octave dropping that'll bring your house down, hit the Behringer... that 'range' switch re-eq's the octaves based on yr preference. I sold it and kept the Boss because the behringer was too heavy in the lower octave range.
Members ArrMatey
hmmm, that possibility sounds good but I wonder how good their tracking is.
Members bondini
Bad tracking sounds ace with lots of fuzz/distortion!
Members Craigfnh
The DOD is just 1 octave down, I hardly ever use the second octave on my OC-2 anyways. I need to get another Arion octave and try the DOD.
Members ck3
The Arion MOC-1 is a solid unit for something in its (current) price range ... and if MF is still running their latest promotion, they may send you a gross of them for the price of one. Members comfortablynumb
I have a Dano Chili Dog on the way. I'll let you know how it is.
Members GuitarSlim101
I have good luck with the MXR Bass Octave. It only does one down but tracks well and has a good sound.
