Members iodine74
I'm about to put up my Jerry Donahue Strat on Ebay, but don't currently have a hardshell case for it. I figured I'd pick one up from MF for cheap and include it in the auction. I was leaning towards getting a tweed, just seemed fitting for the guitar. But then was thinking that some guys might prefer black. Which do you prefer?
Members GuyaGuy
tweed's cooler, just harder to keep clean looking if that's important 2 u

However, since there's essentially a collectibility value going on with the guitar, I'm not sure how much whoever buys it will be taking it out and about, so there might not be a cleaning issue. There's not a even a ton of info about these guitars out there, and you don't see them come up for sale very often. The last one that sold on ebay about 2 months ago went for $1400 (keep in mind these were about $800 New I believe). Mine probably isn't in the condition as that one that sold, so I don't expect to get quite that much but I was figuring for anywhere near that kinda money I should probably include a case. Members NoirAbattoir
I think Tweed is only acceptable if the guitar itself is a vintage style make or model. Otherwise, I prefer plain cases.

Members capnbringdown
I just bought one of those cheap MF dreadnaught cases. I went with black over tweed because it was $10 cheaper.
Members iodine74
Yeah here's the strat. Not vintage style, but when you think Jerry Donahue you usually think of tele's and for some reason Tele's make me think tweed.

Members Noise...
Get a nice heavy duty flight case and thank me later. I got a Squier one with my Fender Strat and it's a hell of a case.
Members iodine74
Well keep in mind, it's not really for me. I'm just going to throw it in with the guitar for auction purposes, that's why I'm trying to keep the prices kinda low. The MF ones are $40 (black) and $50 (tweed)
Members Noise...
AH! ok, if it's just for auction purposes, go for the black. It's cheaper, and everyone will like it just fine.

Members MojoFilter
I've actually got both...G&G cases. One is Tweed with a Red poodle interior, and the other is Black tolex with a Blue Poodle interior. A Sunburst American Deluxe Strat goes in the Black Tolex case, an American Deluxe Ash Butterscotch Blonde Telecaster goes in the Tweed, and a MIM Flame Top Sunburst Strat goes in a different Tweed. Both cases are pretty good looking, but the Black Tolex with the Blue Poodle plush interior has to be seen to be believed. I would take a chance and go with that configuration...even though it's not "vintage" looking per se, it makes any guitar that's in it look expensive. Members fernmeister
I like tweed, I like brown, I like cream - but most people are used to black. Moreover, black wears better, is easy to clean and more road-friendly.
