Members capnbringdown
Kyuss/Queens of the Stone AgeIsisPelicanMelvinsFu ManchuBoris St. Vitus - except when the guy takes a solo, that almost ruins their songs for me. Black Sabbath - I don't consider these guys stoner rock. Are we relabeling all bands that came before to put them into this new genre? Still listen to them, though, as they are one of the founding influences, though the same could be said about Zep and they certainly aren't stoner rock. Check out Deep Purple, Motorhead, Rainbow, Uriah Heep and maybe some early Iron Maiden as far as things that have influenced the stoner rock genre. You can hear a lot of these guys in the newer music. I'm also surprised at how many people have heard of Blue Cheer. And Alice in Chains isn't stoner rock. I guess they would be really classified as grunge, though that may just be splitting hairs. Either way, I like AiC, but I just wouldn't call them stoner rock.
