I think its a combination of many things. A few hundred posts makes you a "member" and 1000 posts makes you a "senior member." Posts aren't everything though. 8.33333333333 hours of constant posting every 30 seconds as allowed would give you 1000 posts but you would still be a n00b. A long period of time can mean youve been here long enough to know what youre talking about, but you might be a little quiet. Third, people actually have to like you. Were all nice dudes so most people fit in. Others... dont. So hang around for a while, talk about gear, post your board and do some buying and selling. Youll fit in quite nicely. That depends on who you're talking to. No one calls me a n00b anymore (they will after I said that... ), but for most folks, until you've racked up over a thousand posts or so, you're a n00b. Then again, compared to some folks with tens of thousands of posts, or who have been here for years and years (the other measure of "n00bness") the rest of us ARE all n00bs. Anyway, for all the new folks - welcome.

Members comfortablynumb
I'd imagine once you reach 250, 300, 400 posts, you're more recognizable and no longer a "noob".Take our own mrweems. He racked up in about 4 days. He's no longer a "noob" (he's also probably broke right now ).
