Members FDZ
As per title. Running a Gibson into a Marshall stack, I just want to be able to pull off a barely-passable bass on the odd occasion. Am I dreaming?
Members Johnny Beverage
Is your wallet going to stretch as far as a HOG or a POG?
Members kpd78
some octavers don't track the low notes very well; the EHX PoG is good for this but does so much more that it would be wasted (and expensive) if that's all you want it for. i borrowed an EBS OctaBass once which i was very impressed with. it's actually a bass pedal so is designed to track low notes. Members Johnny Beverage
Yes, it does seem like a bit of a sledgehammer to crack a walnut...How d'you think a secondhand Digitech Whammy would work out? A friend of mine had one and said he had nothing but good times with it:thu: but one octave below?
Members kpd78
i played a whammy (can't remember which model though) a few years ago and didn't like the feel... it sounded good, but the response/tracking felt slow. it was much better for octave up sounds though. Members ArrMatey
the EH octave multiplexer is a really nice pedal. If you can find, try a pearl octave oc-07 but they are rare so it might be a bit of a mission to find one. The chilli dog is ok in the mids but doesn' track too well in the bass notes. The oc-2 lacks a bit of bottom end and I haven't tried the oc-3 yet.
Members MrMunky
A digitech EX-7 or Whammy does this fairly well, but you have to be careful how you play so as to avoid hitting more than one note or causing a glitch:http://www.inrerocknroll.com/tunes/ExpFact.mp3http://www.inrerocknroll.com/tunes/Take5.mp3 The HOG would be my choice. I can actually get better sounds out of it than I can out of a bass (I'm not saying that I can get better sounds out of the HOG than a real bass player could get out of a bass):http://www.inrerocknroll.com/tunes/AmysTune.mp3http://www.inrerocknroll.com/tunes/Jam.mp3http://www.inrerocknroll.com/tunes/Bender.mp3 The cheapest solution is a Boss OC-2 I'd think:http://www.inrerocknroll.com/tunes/Rbilly.mp3 if you're just using it for recording, you can get something else to play your bass, like band in a box:http://www.inrerocknroll.com/tunes/Fifty.mp3 In any event, I'd say you need a compressor to make whatever you decide to use work.
