Members FearMeWithMyLP
Hey hey everyone! I was wondering if changing the power tubes in my amp have an effect on FX volume/clarity/presence? Both of my amps need to have their power tubes changed (the preamps were recently changed) and I wanted to know if there would be a change in tone. The reason I ask this question instead of just doing it is 1) I'm short on cash right now so the curiosity would kill me and 2) one amp is 6l6 and the other is el34, so I couldn't change them both out at the same time anyway. Just curious if anyone had a direct answer from experience or even their thought on what would/n't happen.
Members L6Sguy
having fresh tubes and a good biasing will make everything sound clearer/sharper/more focused etc. theres no way to say to what exact percent, but its pretty safe to say that if you need a retube, things are sounding worse than it was designed to.
