I know! Since there's not much info out there yet, I can only report the news: "Power Sponge 0 to 5 watts"

While it lacks the mojo of a Blackface Vibro Champ it could be a REALLY handy little practice/recording tool. I'm definitely intrigued.

a car is rated 0-110mph, or whatever max mph is. that 0 mph is pointless doesnt matter, it'll go that low. same with the Peavey, its pointless, but the 'sponge' will likely attenuate down to nothing.

If I get myself another small recording amplifier it will probably be a Swart.

Those are nice. They lack teh XLR-out and built-in attenuation and cost three times as much, but they are HAND BUILT BY MOJO WIZARDS and can be had in an assortment of beautiful finishes, including TWEED

While you're deciding, you might also enjoy one of these many fine corks.

Which could be of use to some people, if the recording output is unaffected by the Sponge. I have no idea what circuit approach they took, so I'll just have to wait for NAMM to find out like everybody else. It does look interesting though.

i was thinking along the lines of the weber attenuators that can go to 0 and still provide a load, even though theres no signal output. not useless per se, but useless for speaker output purposes ("hey -- i'm playing a 0w amp!"). :)

But we already know it's neither vintage nor boutique!

Certainly an odd little thing, isn't it? 6L6 power section, 6.5" speaker with a closed back cab. Says it has an FX loop but I don't see the jax. Fugly but with the closed back it may actually sound descent. Hubcap's in the trunk.

I thought it was an 8" speaker... either way, I would have prefered a 10"...

He's referring to the Ibanez in the thread's title (inser lulz @ clueless on-topic posters). Depending on the size of the cab, the 8" in the Peavey might actually be preferable to a 10". Certainly works for teh Champ.

And Phil, I had no idea you were such a size queen
