Members purpleheadedyogurtslinger
I'm always afraid to ask questions like this because i'll end up getting so many different suggestions. I just hope you guys will suggest some of the same pedals based on the sounds i like. first the fuzz, i really don't care for compression in a fuzz pedal and i don't need something that does the thick sustain sound either. would like to be able to play chords too. i want a really nasty and gritty fuzz sound. i've heard this sound on a few songs like spirit in the sky. beck's new album has two tunes i really like the sound of, broken drum and rental car. also the chilli peppers new album, the song storm in a teacup. hope that explains what i'm looking for. as for distortion, there's a guy in town that gets some great sounds out of a klon, but i've heard it's best to play it through an amp that's already breaking up, but i use super clean fender twin and musicman amps. besides it's pretty pricey. i've also heard the hot cake can do a similar sound and it's a lot smaller too which is nice. anyway, any suggestions in that vein is welcome. thanks
Members Hemispheres
Fuzz = Ashbass Fuzzbrite (see ebay, they are $110.00)Distortion = Barber Direct Drive (tonefactor.com, they are $120.00) You would not be disappointed with either. Members MrMunky
For the latter, I'd suggest a Maxon OD-9 Pro +, which sounds like this: http://www.inrerocknroll.com/tunes/MryXmas.mp3 As for fuzz, I'm a big fan of the FoxRox Electronics Hot Silicon. It can do big, powerful, smooth sustain, but is easily adjusted to crazy sputtering madness. http://www.inrerocknroll.com/tunes/FoxRox5.mp3 Another good one is the D*A*M MkII Professional. http://www.inrerocknroll.com/tunes/Bender.mp3
Members purpleheadedyogurtslinger
the fuzzbrite sounds a lot like the pedal i want. only concern is some people state that it has a volume drop which i hate, but i've noticed that on a lot of fuzz pedals.
