OCD Version 3!!!

pfft whatever. When these were coming out they were being marketed as the end-all be-all of overdrives. If so, then why need 3 versions of the same pedal? And good job at 'kloning' your pedals with the epoxy idea, now people who own version one are {censored} out of luck.

I've heard people get great tones with the OCD however, but i am just one of those people who have NEVER GAS'ed for one. It does sound like more mids could make it close to perfect tho. Since the only real complaint i hear is that they scoop the mids.

no offense to subdecay, but they have had 3 versions of the stupidbox and no one is bashing them. I am not trying to depend, or bash any company, just observing how biased alot of people on here are.

how many hotcakes versions are there?

4 ibanez tubescreamers.

od-1,od-2,od-3.

I think I was a little flip and snotty about the Fulltone, so I deleted my posts.

Fuller makes very good gear. His less than polite customer service has put me off a bit, but his stuff is excellent.

And his offer to send the parts out or in some cases replace the OCD PCB is a good guy move.

You mean, obsessive-compulsive corksniffers who are paranoid they won't have great tone without spending more money? ;)

be vigilant nonetheless. they may sneak into your home and reverse the direction of your patch cables, and you'll just sit there wonderng why your bass is arriving late after your treble.

JHS is a guy who posts on DIYStompboxes and one of the German sites. He pretty much knows the OCD inside and out. His comments on the new PDF were interesting:

Now, that everyone knows that it's a slightly modded VL OD there is no reason to goop it any longer.

This third version mod was developed by a FX-modder and published in another forum a few month ago.

The same with the 500k vol mod for the 2nd version.

I like the first version better, way more open sounding and IMHO V1 is much better for clean boosting and light crunch. The third version is a real mid humper with reduced high and bass end and IMHO not good for boosting a clean sounding guitar or for light crunch.

I don't recommend to change the vol to 1M, w the 1M it sounds more like a fuzz pedal when maxed and very compressed and furthermore the 1M makes it hard to dial in gain nuances when the gain is set low.

When the tone pot (it's a simple guitar tone control wired to the vol pot) is closed the sound is IMHO dull and useless and a small R in series with this pot is a good mod to prevent this effect.

HEy DanO, you mentioned on your site that you have a schem for the VL O -- can you post that, or maybe point me to it's direction on the internets?

Here's the schematic.

Mark Hammer did a really interesting job with the VLOD with his awesome RoseyRay:

Search around DIYStompboxes.com and you'll find lots of threads about the VLOD/OCD.

Here's the preliminary schemo for the my Pwned overdrive. It is a VLOD but adds MOSFET clippers like the OCD and also a full tone stack. Got some good pointers from the other forum on increasing the gain and setting up the tone stack correctly.

As of yet unverified, but it should work.
