And Lethwai (Burmese boxing) has to be the most brutal martial sport I've ever seen!

I went to a Lethwei match about two years ago when I was in Burma, enjoyable but quite frightening at the same time. Was held in this backstreet warehouse deep in some suburban ghetto in Rangoon.

I'm always amazed at how violent south east asian martial arts are (this, Muay-Thai etc) but the people are so nice and friendly outside of it as they are buddists.

Question about the UFC. I know a guy, actuallly several who could put a guy to sleep in a matter of seconds with one medium intensity blow. He was trained for this type of stuff. Ive seen him do it. He was trained in pressure points. He could kill a man without a leaving a mark with his bare hands. Im sure there are lots of people who are trained in this manner. So my question is..... Is this type of stuff not allowed in the UFC? Cause when I see those guys on the mat holding eachother down I know that my buddy could easily do serious damage without(as far as I know) breaking any rules. Anyone know the rules in the UFC. By the way that clip was insane.

It's incredibly hard to do that {censored} at full speed, full intensity.

Case in point, I was sparring a aikido guy a few weeks ago at an open mat night. He came from a pretty well regarded school, was a brown belt, pretty good shape, etc. He had no idea what to do with a jab-cross-hook, couldn't joint lock me and every time he tried to close to throw me, I'd just slam liver shots and shovel hooks into his ribs until I could kick his legs out (ouchi-gara for you fellow judoka).

I take any claim about deadly skills with a grain of salt-- there's just not the environment around anymore (e.g. constant hand-to-hand combat, warfare, etc.) for any one to perfect those skills in the states.

Apparently, Pride > UFC anyways.

Kickboxing is some legit stuff though. It'd be tough to say what kind of damage those guys could do on the ground though. BJJ!

I like BJJ, a lot. We've got a couple of Gracie students who roll with my Judo class a few times a month. Good, tough dudes. Even the white belts are tough on the ground.

i had this friend who was into all that crazy sportfight {censored}. he used to watch those european vidoes of people ripping cats apart and people shooting themselves to get himself pumped up before he would work out... he was a sick kid. one time at a bowling alley, some kid tried to steal his car stereo and he caught the guy, beat him down, and curb stomped the kid, he was pretty {censored}ed up,

ex marine, big surprise...

Spotted some Bob Sapp (the ginormous black dude with white shorts), Ernesto Hoost, Mark Hunt, Marvin Eastman, Cro Cop (the skinny white guy with the checkered undies who kicks guys to sleep)in there. Some great fighters in that vid. Some more awesome vids....

From Fight Science:

1. "Fight Science" brings together ballistics, biomechanics, and crash-test technology for the first time ever.

2. Engineers measure and map the speed, force, and range of nerves, muscles, bones, and weapons.

3. Data is collected at 20,000 samples per second.

4. The motion-capture technique requires reflective markers over the fighters' bodies, allowing for sophisticated animation of bones, muscles, and nerves.

5. Filming took place in a custom-built dojo
