Members dswain81
I am looking for a cheaper alternative to the Electric Mistress. I just need something to get the Electric Mistress-Floyd like sounds. My current practice rig:Strat->Compressor->Phase 90->TS-9->LBM->De-7->Vox Pathfinder Any thoughts or recommendations? Members barneyc4
You can use a Boss CE-2 chorus just like Gilmour did at PULSE.
Members wacopacco
if i recall correctly from that tour, he had a ce2, uni-vibe, and electric mistress rehoused into 1 rackmount unit.

Members dswain81
Does anyone reading this thread have any experience with the CE-2? It seems like most of the reviews I've read about Boss chorus pedals haven't been that positive. Besides, they are selling on the bay for about the same price as the EM (I've been watching them too). Building a Gilmourish type rig is hard work with all of the different options and opinions online (Gilmourish, Tone from Heaven, etc). The search continues. The ce1 is largely sought-after but there plenty of reliable clones out there. Honestly tho, i'd go with a small clone. I was able to get some great floyd tones with my small clone and mayo. Add some delay on there and you've nailed it.
Members dswain81
Cool...I've been looking at the Small Clone too. I love EHX pedals. I just wish that the Small Clone was a little bit more adjustable. If the new nano clone didnt have the electric problems with daisy-chaining..i would have already bought one. For crazier stuff theres the clone theory or the poly chorus. But they get pretty whacky. I'm waiting for a small box electric mistress to come out. Of course, i'll have to see how it is because it seems EHX is putting out some finnicky stuff lately...

Members sjaltenb
I have the CE2 and the Electric Mistress. They are very different. I love both pedals and are both very important if you are looking for your floyd sound. During the PULSE tour in 94 gilmour used two CE2s, one of which only ran in the left channel of his sound, and then for songs like Breathe he would run them both. The mistress gives you that awesome Mother solo effect that is so prevalent in the early 80's live sounds. There is definatly not a substitute and it is also useful to add to the CE2 to get those vibish tunes. also, it can get pretty darn close to the Any Colour You like tone if you crank up the Rate. The CE2 is also a more subtle chorus and is useful in obtaining that PULSE solo tone like Comfortably Numb. Its definatly like no other chorus, both pedals are very unique. With the rig you got right now those two additions would definatly help, but i dont think they are interchangable.

Members sjaltenb
peavey classic 30. I think it does a pretty good job i mean its a nice tube amp. I've never played thorugh a Fender or HiWatt so i cant really compare. With gilmour most of your tone comes from the pedals so y'know... Im working on getting some clips. As soon as the DD20 gets in i'll try to record some stuff
Members Seth Carmody
I think Gilmour used the battery Electric Mistress. http://www.fenderrhodes.com/img/products/mistress/mistress.jpg > They're supposed to sound a little bit different to the big box deluxe, but the one I had was pretty darn noisy and had a huge volume drop. Not exactly cheaper, but I was told here that the original Polychorus/Polyflange/Echoflangers had an Electric Mistress built into them, with the added bonus of a chorus. Not sure how the Reissue polychorus flanger mode compares to the reissue DEM. Otherwise maybe a Coron Jet Flanger and Filter Matrix if you can find one, but I'm not sure if it's a cloned circuit or they just copied the idea of the filter matrix. Members sjaltenb
I think Gilmour used the battery Electric Mistress. yes he did, it is a little different. its apparently smoother than the reissue. Pete Cornish modified all of gilmours effects before the hit the rig, apparently pretty heavily on the mistress for volume drop and noise, i dont think he did anythign to the actual sound. he also modified the CE2s and univibe for the same basic reasons
Members barneyc4
Howard David mods new deluxe electric mistresses. He modded mine to sound just like Gilmour's did during the Wall tour. He also fixed the volume drop mod, made it true bypass and some other stuff.
