Members sonaboy
January, 23 2007 at The Viper Room - Helmet opening for Open Hand. our friend in KC, ex-Shiner, Season To Risk bassist Paul Malinowski is playing tour dates with one unbelievable heavy rock band Open Hand, genre jumping sounds for fans of Kyuss, QOTSA, Cream, The Sword, Beach Boys, Beatles, High On Fire and Clutch. Opener for the night is the semi-original lineup of Helmet, which, from Paul's testimony, is playing some absolutely brutal new {censored}. yes, i realize this sounds like an Amp Forum gush, but i don't take this guy's opinion lightly. anyway, to hear the real broadcast of Open Hand's frequency, hit their myspace page.click the track "Werden" i hope at least a few can go out and support - Paul's bass sounds are amazing. Members iodine74
Interesting. If I remember correctly, I think Shiner is one of J. Robbins favorite bands, and when I finally checked them out (since he was such the fan) I remember liking them quite abit as well.I still want to know what the hell happened to Page Hamilton's voice though. Members sonaboy
wow. they could be unstoppable. i'm sure it's quite a bit heavier now - Gerkin is playing those VistaLight drums - big ones. They definitely have a recognizable thud to them. If anyone's on the west coast and wants to see one mindbending heavy rock show, this would be it. Look into it! That's probably good. Watching Helmet get no props from the crowd (with Gavin Bush) singing is just sad. c

Members theweight
Good Question. The Life and Times is a good band, but nowhere near the excellence of Shiner. Alan Eply is still one of my heroes. I lost my cool when I saw him and made an ass out of myself. I was drunk, which explains a lot.
Members Filter428
I remember Gerkin from a band called Molly McGuire (sp?), This was in the early '90's.
