seems like a no brainer that it'd be synth.. i guess a pog along with some other crazy stuff, heavy reverb or whatever, could achieve some of that.. but of course that didn't exist when this album was made. i don't think they've ever played this live so i'm guessing if it is guitar (what makes you think so?) it's all heavy studio effects. others will probably be more knowledgeable

"Treefingers" will hands down be one of the biggest surprises on Kid A. It has no real melody and is instrumental. One may think that Synthesizers were used to make the song, but as Ed pointed out in an interview, it was done all on guitar. Thom recorded Ed playing guitar for about 10 minutes and then cut and paste the recording in his sampler."
