Members rock-lobster
i like the sound of the digitech whammy (from what i've heard in songs like borg sex and cool #9), but is it really worth the 200 bucks?
Members Seth Carmody
I think only you can decide that one. The Boss PS-5 is a cheaper unit that can do a similar thing with an added expression pedal.
Members PeelingPaint98
You can find them on ebay pretty regularly for 130-150, as far as the sound goes, I cannot say.
Members EL KABONG
the wh1 sounds better than the re issues imo i got mine for 295 on ebay, i love it i really dont need another octave pedal for my uses. the wh1's usually go for around
Members jalfredprufrock
I can only speak to the sound quality of the reissues, but I hate them w/ the fire of a thousand suns.

Members bleepedybloops
digitech expression factory = whammy+space station+lots more Which modes of the Whammy does it have? I like to use the Octave harmony and the 2 Octaves up And which Space Station settings does it have? Just the one swell that is basically a volume pedal right? Just the one swell that is basically a volume pedal right? It has one strings setting out of 8 if memory serves and none of the other 32 settings, the space station rocks for certain applications, beware the preamp though, can be a signal killer when the pedal is not in use, TB pedal is a must. It would make much more sense to get the real deal for about $50 more, If I really wanted one

Members MrMunky
I have a few clips of the EX-7, one of the WH-1 (the lovepedal Burner clip) and several of the EHX HOG (which has a mode comparable to the Whammy and is still less than a used WH-1) here, if you're interested in comparing. Members paperhouse
It would make much more sense to get the real deal for about $50 more, If I really wanted one if you want a whammy and a space station you'd have to spend a lot more than $250. the ex7 has detune, 2nd up -> maj 3rd up, 5th up, octave up, 2 octaves up, octave down->octave up, and reverse 2nd down whammy modes. it also has mix and tone knobs that no other whammy has. yes, you only get one mode of the space station, but it has controls for the interval that it harmonizes - detune, 4th up, 5th up, octave up, 4th down, 5th down, octave down, as well as knobs for attack time and mix. ext manual
Members Zlandicar
The WH-2/Whammy II is a good solid choice. Sounds almost as good as an original WH-1, and has a footswitch so you can switch modes without leaning over to get at it. Black casing too, if you're into that (I am).My Digitech VX400 (vocal fx box) has a Whammy function, and it doesn't sound nearly as good as my WH-2. More obviously digital (granted, they all are, but the WH-1/WH-2 are far more transparent)And an excellent condition WH-2 also typically goes for 200-250 on the 'Bay - if you're lucky you can get it for less than a new WH-
Members PeelingPaint98
if you want a whammy and a space station you'd have to spend a lot more than $250. Not really, if you watch ebay you can occasionally find the jetpackmods XP-1000 which has the Xp-100 whammy and Space station in it as well as the modualtor and reverbarator usually he does a BIN of 280 shipped. Members skylab
I left the forum a few years ago..and now I'm back..but it's like I never left. Whammy argument.... Wh1 vs Reissue..when you A/B the two of them in your bedroom I am quite sure you would hear a difference..or feel a diffence...(tracking times seem faster on the original)... but plugged in on a stage..or in rehearsal with other sh*t going on...I don't care who you are..yer not gonna be able to tell me which is which. Members rock-lobster
it's not about wh1 vs. reissue at all to me though.no way in helll i can afford an original.i might just get the expression factory.
Members EL KABONG
that seems like what most people are doing on the fourms is going with the expression factory, i can't afford one cause i blew $295 on a Wh1 with a bubble gum machine sticker on it and a bent nob, it still works though and has great tone.
