I see the bidder information:confused:

Perhaps it is a new seller option to hide bidder details, and not a global thing?

I'm not sure what the deal is really...but I've seen examples of both so far. Hopefully it is just an option and most sellers won't use it.

Seems to me to be an extension of the anonymous bidder thing.

Ebay has been upsetting me in general lately. :(

Like I bought something for 80 dollars, and then it shows up on ebay BIN for 40. That pisses me off. I want my money back.

But seriously, ebay is poopoo right now. I'm so damned surprised no other auction website has been able to take over, usually on the great ol' Innerweb all the greats eventually get replaced by other greats.

Not ebay.... :(

I should invest a few grand into developing an auction website that doesn't suck. Maybe I could make my millions.

i dont get pissed at snipers, they where willing to pay more for an item, the only thing is that you get your hopes up that you WILL be getting a great deal and someone at the last minute takes it away. but its part of the game, is like at a real auction. "going once....going twice..." " i'll pay $2 buck more thatn him" its just part of the timed sistem and what other people are willing to pay

Security my ass! Now sellers can create shill-accounts way more easily. And with a list of 'Bidder 1', 'Bidder 2', you can't see whether ashleyzakk0893 with 0 feedback has been increasing the amount with $1 increments.

On a more positive note, I sniped a near mint in box vintage MXR Phase 100 in the last second of the auction a few days ago.

I don't get PISSEd, per se - they're not doing anything underhanded or whatever. I just haven't been getting the same deals I was getting in October and November AT ALL.

I guess a 'HomeBrew HME Power Screamer' for $75 was too good to be true, anyway. :D

Fake second chance offers and people offering to buy and sell offline by sending messages through the eBay system.

+1

I manually snipe, but still just put in my max, not inch it up. I don't feel like paying for a sniping program. I use windows mobile so wherever I am I can bid if need be.

Realistically, though, eBay shouldn't be relying on other buyers to police shill bidding...that's eBay's responsibility. And they can obviously create a system for comparing buyers' bidding patterns, which is much easier than having someone manually check auctions at random.

What are the chances of Ebay doing that though??

Also, you can still see how many different sellers a particular buyer is bidding with. It just lists them as Seller1, Seller2, etc. If they're bidding on all different items from the same seller, then that's as much information as you had before...

As the internet evolves, eBay continues to strike a balance between preserving transparency and protecting our Community of members. eBay has decided to change how bid history information is displayed so bad guys cannot target bidders with fake offers using this information. In certain cases, some bidders will no longer be able to view Bidder User IDs on the Bid History page. Your User ID will be shown only to you and the seller of the item you're bidding on. Other members will see an anonymous name, such as Bidder 1, applied consistently to the Bid History page.

Cut this from e-bay's explanation as to why.................Just FYI....
