Members RadiationNation
I've recently decided to avoid the hassle of collecting individual effect pedals and to just go ahead and buy a multi-effects unit. My budget is around $400 so I was looking at the Boss GT-8. I played a POD XT Live at a music store today and was impressed with the sound, but I'd be mostly using it live so the GT-8 seems more appropriate. Anyway, please let me you know if you think I'd just be wasting my money. Oh yeah, I play a Les Paul copy through an Ashdown Peacemaker 60. Members gr8fuldodd
I don't have any specific info on the GT-8 but I can say... sure you spend a ton of money on metal boxes while others in this world are starving and sure you'll constantly be questioning your purchases and coveting yet another pedal promising sonic orgasms but goddamnit - it's the best thing I've ever been obsessed about I love being a pedal junky why would you want to pass all that up? how bout get the GT-8, then start a pedal collection slowly? Members MrMunky
If you want to hear what it sounds like recorded direct, a lot of the clips at http://fuzz.inrerocknroll.com were recorded with a GT-8 and other effect pedals.

Convenience and money, mostly. I'm a college student, so when I finally graduate and get a decent paying job I'd like to get back into it, but it's too much of a hassle right now. Plus it seems like it'd be easier to lug around. Less stuff to worry about anyway. Mostly I'm just lazy.

Members Fxrs
What are you plugging into? I had one for a few days, but my amp didn't like it at all. I think I'd still have it if my amp would have let me keep it. Deep unit, lots of reading headaches, I think.
Members gr8fuldodd
I gave the vox tonelab a shot it was pretty damn cool but I didn't have the dough to keep it I think it would have been good in a dorm situation
Members formisano
Speaking from personal experience, the Pod XT, XT live, GT-8, Tonelab, etc... don't work well at all with guitar amplifiers. If you're into your amp, save yourself the time, money and agrivation of having to learn this lesson for yourself. Now, that being said, if you don't care about giving up using guitar amps (and you'll just record direct, or use headphones, or plug into a PA system), then go for it. Otherwise, please hear my advice. I went down this road a few times, each time thinking it would be different. It never was. I'm happier now with a Boss DD-3 in the effects loop, and a Boss CH-1 out in front of the amp. (not to mention these couple of pedals only cost about a hundred bucks combined.) Members aussiejoe
The Zoom G9.2tt works great into a tube amp
Members niceguy
sure, a modeler into a nice tube amp sounds not so great, but you can always shut off the amp/cab modeling and use these units strictly for floor FX..... Right?
