Members trlkvsky
I just bought a Small Clone, am waiting for it to arrive in the mail. However, upon reading a few HC reviews bringing up reliability issues, I'm starting to wonder if my choice wasn't a little ill-advised... Somehow, I'm now a little more intrigued by the Boss CE-2... Any thoughts, comments, opinions?
Members paperhouse
the small clone is a lot thicker than the CE2. the CE2 is pretty subtle. also, they need a 12V power supply. if they don't have the correct power supply they'll hiss and the LED is very dim. if anything's going to break on the small clone, it would be the switch, which is easy to replace. also, lost highway kicks ass :thum:
Members vanguard
you chose wisely IMO. i had a long dash ce-2 from the first batch, and was pretty unimpressed. it's really glassy and brittle. the clone is deep and thick which, to me, is the only way to avoid a chorus sounding like ass. I hope it's the case, otherwise I'll be sorely disappointed. Also what's the deal with the Japan vs. Taiwan versions of the CE-2? Are they that different? BTW... "Paperhouse"... is that a reference to the Can track off Tago Mago??

Members L6Sguy
i'm with these guys here, SC > ce-2. in fact, i'll take almost any chorus at all over a ce-2. not a fan. and i've had 3 SC, an orig and 2 RI. never a prob. ^ and yeah, the ce-2b is great for guitar. Members Fast Frets
I like a subtle chorus and use the Keeley modded CE-2. It is a MIJ version and after modding it uses 9v just fine. I like it but never used the unmodded version.

Members eric0307nl
I modded my green label japanese version with the monte allums mod. I also own a Ibanez RC99 chorus. Both have great sounds, but very different. I like the modded version better than the unmodded.
Members Scafeets
I've tried several others, but I keep coming back to my MIJ CE-2. Then again, I don't pile it on. If I wanted a heaver sound, I'd go for someting else.
Members claffman
I prefer the CE-2.
Members makeurmark
Hey, I agree with claffman. CE-2 is one of the best if not the best chorus. But as everyone knows "sound is always subjective." So. with that being said use(chorus) what ever sound good to your ear. Regards
Members geekdom
You guys who think the CE-2 sounds like ass need to clean the wax and/or hair out of your ears.
Members W.A.S.
I hate chorus but there's a CE-3 for $45(CAD) in a pawn shop here. How much could I get for it, is it a decent deal, would anyone want it?

Members passing ghost
the ce-2b only choruses the upper freq. and harmonics. it sounds much nicer than the ce-2 for mono.

Members L6Sguy
Ah go sniff some more corks. you obviously didnt read my sig; short of adding a couple walmart pedals, i couldnt be too much further from corksniffing. a little, but not too much.and, having gone through close to 20 chorii, i found the ce-2 to be the most unimpressive, both mij and mit versions. sure, i'd use 'em, but only cuz i'm a trashy pedal-whore. there. i said it. Members Seth Carmody
whoever things it sounds awesome should stop living in the 80s Screw you 80s hater :shakes fist:Actually I picked up a MIJ CE-2 last year and was a little underwhelmed - there's not a whole lot of sounds in there and the rate knob is painfully slow compared to a lot of other units. I wouldn't mind trying the CE-2B as you could blend just a touch of chorus onto the clean tone, rather than saturating it. I thought it was just a CE-2 with a blend control though, rather than specifically designed to effect the high frequencies, say like the HF-2. Well, let's just agree to disagree then my friend. I've had much equipment myself over the past 15 years of playing. My search stopped when I got a CE-2 a couple months ago. Yes, I like the 80's chorus tone. Rock on
