I haven't been feeling the last couple seasons as much but the first 10 or so seasons are top notch.
Members aramat effects
I feel that way (angry to the point of verbal abuse) when Family Guy is on. (And BTW I love the Simpsons). The only remotely amusing stuff in family guy are the references to other shows or things in pop culture and elsewhere. Their characters aren't interesting and every joke has been played-out or is a f@rt joke.
Members TIKILOCKEDOUT
To be fair I have found a few lines funny from time to time ... but it's always in passing. I guess the media critic in me is seriously prejudiced against something of the Simpsons mass media coverage ... somewhat like the Mcdonalds franchise etc ... I've never watched more than 30 secs in passing.

I think they might be trying too hard and that the characters are becoming stereotypes of themselves. I hope to jeebus that the Simpsons movie that's coming out this summer makes up for this season's shortcomings.

I just don't see how they can stretch a plot out to an hour and a half or so. The show works because they can do all kinds of crazy {censored} in a half hour and not have to explain what happened. I think 30 minutes is the perfect time limit for a Simpsons plot. A full lenght movie is either going to be full of many different plots or the singular plot is going to be stretched very thin. I hope they prove me wrong though. I am a bit worried with the clips that they have shown with Homer and the wrecking ball. That scene reminds me of Family guy where they strectch out a joke for way too long. Regardless, I am eager to see the film.

Having been born afterwards I can look back and appreciate them. Maybe I'll like Eminem in 10 years, but not likely.

Members Brian Marshall
Sorry... ive been watching the simpsons since they were shorts on the tracy ullman show. I love the show, although i rarely watch it, or any TV anymore. I suppose it makes more sense if you are familiar with working class america, and just american culture in general. Not saying that you would be completely unfamiliar with it, but you havent lived it. Granted the simpsons were a little more cutting edge when they first aired, and everyone else hadnt coppied them yet. My favorite characters are: Kent Brockman The comic book guy willie Shows that i cant stand: Friends (not so bad when it was first on, but my wife watches reruns every damn day) MASH- god damn if my parents dont still watch this show almost every day... how long can that war last... Law & order- most predictable show ever, and stupid watered down political slug fests between the DA and his team.
Members TIKILOCKEDOUT
I watched all the Tracy Ullman shows years ago and hated it then too! It's sooo much more than the US Culture thing ... it's not that I don't get it ... it's that it's facile, pure and simple. *shrug*

Members Mxr20
I think every show right up until around 1999 is amazing and wonderful then the quality slowly declined, and now I can't bother to watch it
