did he get away with it?

I've been robbed whilst in the house. Very scary thing to happen.

No, I caught him and he left it behind. Then I started chasing him into the street, in the snow with only socks on. I had to let him go. He did leave a bit of evidence behind. We'll see what we the police can do with that. {censored}ing {censored}.

how did they break in?

Well my apartment door wasn't locked (stupid I know), and the front door downstairs (I live on the second floor) doesn't always shut tight. Time to fix both problems... {censored}. After it was all done, I started getting paranoid, like, did he get one of my guitars?? But I saw him leave... it's weird.

well, yeah, lock your door... especially sicn eyou said there was a break in the building earlier...

then maybe get a towel to stuff at the bottom of the door to help keep your heat from escaping and keep the heating bill down... I am sure you are getting robbed that way as well...

Sorry to hear that man.

I'm sure it was some crackhead trying to get something to fund his crack addiction.

Do you live near Rue St. Catherine by any chance???
:)

Glad to hear you're OK.

That's what I thought as well... but apparently (from what the police have told me) there's sort of a crime network in Montreal specializing in break-ins of this sort. They sort of stake out the house/building, learn the routines of the tenants, etc.

Acutally I'm not too far from Ste Catherine, but I do live in a respectable and generally safe neighbourhood. I get the feeling we've been spotted 'cuz of that shoddy front door that won't lock as it should. I will work on that.
