Members trigun500
I am seriously thinking about ordering this pedal. I can't play before I buy becuase no store has it around here. My only concern is I have a whammy pedal..will the blue box give me something that I can't already do wit hthe whammy? Thanks
Members bojo
well it goes into kind of self oscillation that you can't really do with your whammy.
Members Zlandicar
The Blue Box can do a lot more. it takes your signal, duplicates it an octave down, and fuzzes it up. Very bloopy and psychedelic sounding. I've used it with my Whammy II (with the Whammy first) and it gets crazy.

Members trigun500
I also have a frequncey analyzer. I just want to avoid buying something that does something I already can..
Members Zlandicar
does it sound bad when you play chords like an octave pedal? It's sort of hit or miss. It only consistently sounds good with octaves (!), power chords and single notes. I modded mine so that it can go from aggressive synthy fuzz to pure broken Nintendo sounds. Members ck3
does it sound bad when you play chords like an octave pedal? The results are dependent upon where the blend knob is set. I kind of liked how a six-note major barre chord sounded with it dimed.

Members Zlandicar
All you do is remove one capacitor. C11, I think. The real mod involves installing a switch along with the capacitor so you can switch back to stock sounds, I never got around to adding that part.Instructions here: http://www.noisefx.com/article/mxr_blue_box_mod* SPAM ALERT *I'm selling mine. Members fuzzinator
The C11 mod mentioned in this thread fixes the volume drop issue. I don't know where they got the idea that it gives you nintendo sounds.
Members Zlandicar
It does, if you turn down the blend knob. I modded mine specifically for this purpose.
