Members E the Hairthief
Go here and listen to E Weird: Myspace The drone guitar in the first minute and a half or so is played with an e-bow through an overdrive and a Behringer acoustic sim pedal. Members Hand Amputation
I have one. I use it on ONE song in my band. Cool for spacey stuff +1.
Members Sgt. Politeness
How do you guys hold your e-bow?? If the e-bow is in a "C" shape, i used to hold it with the 2 ends of the e-bow facing the headstock. My friend just recently told me to hold it with the curve facing the headstock and it works so much better. I don't get any unpredicted loud volume spikes. I now feel like I am retarded because I have had that ebow for about 5 years now.

Members fearofnightmare
i like holding the ebow above the neck pickup, on the D string, and then sliding notes on the fretboard. Makes a neat harmonic sounding thing. Also, ebow+distortion+delay+some kind of modulation =
Members SG1
I've been using one for years, great fun! I have had all the different models at one time or another but prefare my original silver one best.
Members V
I love my ebow. I use it all the time. I guess it depends on what type of music you like to play. Also it basically opens up a whole new world of your effects capabilities. Try using ebow with a bit of delay or a HOG or a ring modulator, for example. I also enjoy using it with a tremolo set to a hard on-off sound for an interesting effect. Interesting stuff.

Members aeon
The ebow is a thing of great beauty with the right pedals, analog multimode filtering, an amp that is just breaking up, and an Eventide doing diatonic pitch and modulation for deep, lush pads and drone tones. cheers,Ian

Members kittycaster
Ebows are pretty useful. Check out this track - it is a version of "I Am The Walrus" that I did using four eBow tracks to do the string quartet parts: http://www.soundclick.com/bands/songInfo.cfm?bandID=341725&songID=2404306

Members Karma1
I've been using them for years - since they came out. I'm on my third one now, the Plus model with the harmonic switch. As others have noted, it depends on what kind of music you play as to how much use you'll get out of it. For the kind of ambient electronic music I do, it's perfect, especially with a lot of delay. I recently contributed a song to a compilation of ambient guitar music where I layered four tracks of ebow, played on two different guitars with different effects over a synth soundscape. However, since I installed a Sustainiac in one of my guitars, I haven't been using the e-bow quite as much. Although I did use it a little on a gig yesterday. One tip I always like to pass on to new e-bow users is to experiment with rolling off your tone knob all the way or almost all the way. It gives a much smoother sound. You also need to turn your volume knob down quite a bit or it will be very loud when you start to use it.
Members kittycaster
check out the band in my sig, 1st song. the 2nd guitar that comes in (that sounds kinda drone-y) is an ebow. they're hard to play but fun if you can use it in the context of your band. Nice song! I got pulled into the mood of the song so much I forgot to listen for the eBow!
