Phaser comparisons (Quasar/Psilocybe)

Can anyone compare the Quasar and Psilocybe to some other phasers? I have:

Small Stone (RI)

Phase 90 (Vintage Block)

Red Witch Deluxe

Infinitphase MK2

Modmax

How do these compare to the Quasar and Psilocybe? I'm not dissatisfied with my sounds right now, I think it's more of a 'grass is greener' situation. I hear great things about the other two, maybe comparing them to what I know can help me make a decision...

Depends on what kind of phaser you're looking for. My favorite so far is the Moog 12-stage phaser. It has a 6 stage option, too. But if I wasn't concerned with 12 stages, I think the Quasar sounds amazing. The Small Stone is okay but it's not tweakable enough for me. The phase 90 sucked in my opinion, and the Red Which would probably come next after the Quasar. Never heard the Modmax. Worst phaser ever: Digitech X Series Hyperphase. The most metalic bull{censored} ever since At The Gates.

I've just resigned myself to the idea that I can't get by with just one phaser. I have several phasey goals to meet and no one pedal that I've found satisfies it all.

I just had to recognize exactly what those goals were, then identify the pedals that would meet them.
Them spend spend spend...

I started with a Shannon, then Quasar, now a Nano Stone is winging its way through the mail as I speak. (I have a strange feeling there's another one I'm forgetting about)

i read in an old post earlier today that the psilocybe had a volume drop issue. can anyone confirm this?

negative on the volume drop. Must have been a defective one. Volume drops are one thing that i WONT tolerate. My Electric Mistress had one and it annoyed the piss out of me...

You've got a MkII and you're concerned about other phasers? What's WRONG with you, man?!? I'd murder for one.

As far as my input into the thread is concerned, I've owned a Deluxe Moon Phaser in the past and it didn't really rock my world like I'd hoped. I'm probably going to pick up a Moog phaser in the next few days. I really want that thick wubbawubbawubba watery sound that the Moog gives you.

I think you can have other phasers...The big issue with the IF is that it's a lot to have on a board (and pricey to take on the road).

Mike's building me a simple(ish) smallbox phaser as a space saver. A mini-IF, if you will.

The IF is a perfect studio tool and OK if you have a massive baord, roadies and don't mind bending down and changing about 8 knobs every time you need a different setting. I did used to run the IF and an Akai Intelliphase on the same board. Akai for simpler 4 stage phasing and IF for blippy stepped 8 stage phasing. Those were 2 large phasers on one board.:love:
