Members kishjor
now i have been thinking about a cool volume effect. only i don't know how it would be done. it would be similar to trem, but different. it would modulate the signal by going from from a preset low volume and moving to a preset high volume at a preset speed. when it peaked at the high volume it would imediatly start over, creating a pulsing sound. controls would be low volume settinghigh volume settingdephrate. waddaya think? Members kishjor
there has to be an analog way of controling the volume in this way!
Members hangwire
there has to be an analog way of controling the volume in this way!i suppose, I am still hung up on how little components can make a phaser verses a fuzz pedal... makes no sense to me...I guess the super analog way of doing this would be on a 2 pickup guitar, set 1 pickup to zero volume and swell the other pickup, flip teh swich top cut out the sound while turning the knob back down, and flip the switch and swell again...the main position I guess would be "why" I think us guitar playing effects guys want things that are impractical most of the time. I now use an old synth with soem pedals for wierd sounds [envelops, ring mod, wild trem] and keep my guitar for minimalist dirt and such. Go find and play with an ARP Odyssey for an hour and sell all your weird pedals for one... that's what did it for me... who knows, the arp might even do what yu are talking about

Members kishjor
does your amp have spring reverb? nope! only pedal is a booster. looking to get a compressor though. probably the main squeeze.

Members hangwire
what is a arp odyssey?bad pic, but the nect shot shows that the enitre face is sliders and whatnot...and do NOt get a compressor... pedal compressors make no sense to me... recording compressors yes. Members PFDarkside
You are looking for a tremolo with a sawtooth wave. Either the cusack or empress has some type of an 'offset' (does from ramp through triangle through saw wave), depth (for the low volume) and gain (for the high volume). Any triangle trem with an offset should do it, though.

And how are you supposed to get that snappy country tone without a compressor? by playing snappy county? the compressor only minimally gives that pronouncd effect, you can pull it off good-enough with technique. Merle Haggard would agree.

Members cusackmusic
FYI, the Tap-A-Whirl now has a Ramp Up, and a Ramp Down. The Ramp Up would be what you are asking for, The Ramp Down is a cool alternate to that. This is usually called a Sawtooth Waveform, not to be confused with the Triangle waveform many tremolos have. Members puretube
EHX Pulsar? It does | -> / -> /| waveshapes, right? No preset volume controls though. Right!the PULSARs can seamlessly blend from rising sawtooth - through triangle - to falling sawtooth...
