now i have been thinking about a cool volume effect. only i don't know how it would be done.

it would be similar to trem, but different.

it would modulate the signal by going from from a preset low volume and moving to a preset high volume at a preset speed. when it peaked at the high volume it would imediatly start over, creating a pulsing sound.

controls would be low volume setting

high volume setting

deph

rate.

waddaya think?

there has to be an analog way of controling the volume in this way!

i suppose, I am still hung up on how little components can make a phaser verses a fuzz pedal... makes no sense to me...

I guess the super analog way of doing this would be on a 2 pickup guitar, set 1 pickup to zero volume and swell the other pickup, flip teh swich top cut out the sound while turning the knob back down, and flip the switch and swell again...

the main position I guess would be "why" I think us guitar playing effects guys want things that are impractical most of the time.

I now use an old synth with soem pedals for wierd sounds [envelops, ring mod, wild trem] and keep my guitar for minimalist dirt and such. Go find and play with an ARP Odyssey for an hour and sell all your weird pedals for one... that's what did it for me... who knows, the arp might even do what yu are talking about

you won`t need a "depth" control anymore,
coz` the ratio: low-vol/high-vol = depth...

the E-H PULSAR could easily be modded to do that.

You are looking for a tremolo with a sawtooth wave. Either the cusack or empress has some type of an 'offset' (does from ramp through triangle through saw wave), depth (for the low volume) and gain (for the high volume). Any triangle trem with an offset should do it, though.

ARPs are sweet, I'd love to get one...

And how are you supposed to get that snappy country tone without a compressor?

by playing snappy county? the compressor only minimally gives that pronouncd effect, you can pull it off good-enough with technique. Merle Haggard would agree. :thu:
