Wow...all the love....

Just tried it against my Hot British during lunch, and it wins hands down in the ultra high gain territory and holds it's own doing AC/DC crunch, though the Hot British sounded a little better in this spectrum...but just a little. If I could only use one dirt pedal, the TZ would be it!

I say if you are even thinking of getting a Crunch Box, get the TZ or Hot British instead...

BBD -> TZ :)

I totally love mine... while I don't do the 'ultra high gain', I use it for high gain and it's fantastic. Awesome and natural sounding. And the great feature it's got is that I can tailor the EQ so that it works with any amp or speaker combo!

Must get BBD.
:love:

Yeah, the BBD does a super low-medium gain - much clearer than the TZ, an do a great no breakup pushy boost to a biting OD. And like the TZ has lots of volume to spare.

Now I'm thinking about getting one of their fuzzes...can't decide between the Neo and GI.

BBD?

Blue Boy Deluxe

Ohh yeah, this thing loves Strats :) And forgot to mention when using as a boost, it has a smooth creamy texture to it. I know it sounds odd that it can get a biting OD on it's own, yet be creamy as a boost, but that's what it does.

I like the fat-sounding saturation and low-end thump that the Tube Zone can provide. The noise floor can get a little out of hand at times, but this is most likely due to the limitations of my noise supressor pedal, which cannot accomodate various gain levels with the same settings. :mad:

Eww.

Technically, I think the sound has something to do with the 500 K volume knob. If you keep the gain at about unity, you'll have a resistance of maybe 300 K. And, from what I know, that is making it sound very dull. Of course, you could crank it, and I guess that's how most people use it, but keep in mind it's a loud pedal.

The other thing that bugs me is that the drive knob is a log pot from what I know. The transition between low and medium gain is very small.

I'm sure one could build an Eternity-clone that sounds better and is more usable. :wave:
