Members anti-flag193
I've been going to shows for 7 years and one of the best rock tones I've heard was a jcm 800 2203 boosted with an SD-1. A lot of guys on the amp forum love the SD-1 for boosting amps. You could probably find some great clips if you searched it.
Members Jbrazz
sucks a lot of tone, IMO. Yes, i think it sucks tone when the gain is turned up. but i use it very low. and i get a awesome tube like sound.
Members dysorexia
I used it as a boost when I had it, but I didn't want a booster...I wanted an OD so I sold it.

Members Remedy
bad points from my exp. - dulls the tone(treble?) when off - drops the bass out of your sound when on I used to really like it too. but have gone off it recently. *shrugs*
Members RelicJunky
oh im not worrying.i would just like to know because i really like it I use two old MIJ DS-1's one for overdrive/distortion and one as a boost using only the level and tone. There are alot of people that say that the DS-1 is a {censored} pedal as well but I really like the way they sound. I went through alot of high end boutique overdrives (Lovepedal Eternity, Fulldrive II, Blue Boy, Keeley TS-9, etc.) and for me its the DS-1. I just really like em. People bash them all the time but hey, talk is cheap.

Members shepherdspy
It's a good basic overdrive pedal. But there is something literally wrong with it. It can still leak some drive sound in with the clean when in bypass mode. Keeley fixes that when he mods them. I have an article from Musician's Hotline magazine (it may be online somewhere) that shows the fix - adding a jfet or something. But it is kinda involved. Members RelicJunky
thats cool, but what about the SD1 ? Uh, sorry I went on a rant...Anyhow, here is a link to Robert Keeleys modifications for the pedal. It addresses some of the issues that people have with the pedal.http://www.robertkeeley.com/audio6l6/sd1mods.htmlHC thread with some good info:http://acapella.harmony-central.com/showthread.php?t=1237455
Members Bob Sacamano
I liked mine until I got my hbe power screamer. the power screamer is transparent. . . compared to the sd-1 that changes the character of the sound when switched on
Members vigor&kandor
I love my Modified SD-1. I did not dig it to much unmodded though. I also LOVE my modded DS-1. In fact i LOVE most boss pedals, especially once modified.

Members slash81291
I LOVE mine! It/a Rat are my favorite OD/DIST pedals. Works great with my Marshall to give a little more sustain/distortion. I set all the knobs a little past noon.
