Members wacopacco
which do you prefer? What are the major differences? Yes i know the FKR is a rat with all the trimmings but in detail which do you prefer and why? I'm on the list for the FKR but i've had longtime gas for a SCOD as well.... is it worth it to have both? Members NITEFLY182
I preferred the FKR to the SCOD. The FKR could do a lot of sounds and do overdrive/fuzz/distortion sounds with ease. It had a nice quick response with tighter low end than most similar pedals. The SCOD had a loose low end that I couldn't work with. The contour knob always left me wanting and the overall gain structure was too fuzzy for me. If you can get a FKR, get one but the two pedals are really two different things. Members jalfredprufrock
I don't have a FKR, but I run both a SCOD and a Rat 2 on my board. Totally different beasts.

Members NITEFLY182
The thing about your critisms that you never seem to mention is how freaking low you tune your guitars. I own several instruments for different projects. While I have a number of instruments in Drop C, I also own several that I keep in E standard or Drop D which are perfectly reasonable tunings for mass consumption. Besides, if I tune to drop C, only 4 notes on the entire instrument fall below the range of a standard instrument tuned to E - C/C#/D/D#. If youll give me enough credit and grant that I play more than those 4 notes then the criticism is valid. Drop tuning is not a "get out of jail free" card for a pedal that didn't work out for me. I found the same attributes in all tunings and positions.
