I think I was partially responsible for getting the first thread nuked yesterday. Coach and I were questioning the need for Landgraf to included his religious views inside every pedal. I was of course jumped on by every LDO owner as being intolerant and a hater (which IMO - I'm not. I respect everyone's right to their beliefs as long as they don't try to impose it on me.). Not one of them grasped my point - blinded by the swirly paint jobs, I guess...

Hidden religious messages have no business in consumer products. I'm fine with all religions, although I personally believe in none of them, however do not put anything regarding your beliefs inside something you are selling to another unless they specifically request it. Splawn amps contain them as well if I'm not mistaken.

On my last trip to los angeles I was shocked to see that there was a bible verse on the bottom of the cup at the fast food restaurant "in n out".

I %100 agree with you on this. Not that I ever had any interest in Landgraf pedals, but when I saw pictures of the insides with the proseltyzing, I was immediately turned off.

I just find it terribly insulting. Like I can't make up my own mind regarding my belief system. The guys who jumped on me saw absolutely nothing wrong with it of course, couldn't imagine how somebody might take offense to something like that - he's just 'spreading the Word'. There are other 'Words' in the world - they just don't recognize them...

I didn't point out to them that posting those inside text pics also violated the TGP rules regarding religious content - I think that's why the mods ultimately pulled it, not because of anything I said but I could be wrong.

What's funny is that he use to make the 818 Overdrive in a green box.
This was known as the most expensive Tube Screamer out there. around $320
Then it was given a new paint job and a even higher price and is now known as the Landgraff. $400
I always thought it was funny that people said the landgraff wasn't a TS...since the processor pedal (The 818OD)
was sold as and even named after the Tube Screamer.
People have short memorys I guess.

Not only that, but if it is not a big deal why do they feel the need to hide it inside where very few people will ever see it? If the message is not something you would ever consider putting on the outside of the box, then it has no business being on the inside of the box.

Yep, I never planned on paying that retarded money for a TS clone, but knowing that seals the deal . . . if a person is buying a pedal they want performence not a message, if I wanted a message I'd be at church . . .

Splawn amps contain them as well if I'm not mistaken.

Do they really? That's the first I've heard of this with both those brands, or any brand for that matter. I think I'd be really tempted to write something completely anti-christian on the inside and then send it back and ask about "modding". That kind of thing annoys me to no end.

Who are you to say what belongs on a product? If you don't like it, don't buy it.

I'm almost 100% positive. Someone posted gut shots of a splawn and I was shocked to see it. Most everybody thought it was no big deal as he too was just "spreading the word" and was "proud to be a christian". That right there turned me off to splawn as by purchasing his products you are condoning his actions of him passing his beliefs onto unsuspecting buyers with no regard for the customer's beliefs.

I'm a Christian and I would never do that if I were a pedal maker. For one thing, you aren't going to convert anyone by posting a generic religious message inside a pedal. It's not going to happen. The other thing is, you're just going to piss off potential customers who don't want to be preached at whenever they change their batteries. It's a lose-lose situation.
