Members sense_of_henry
I am looking for information on P-90s. There are many companies that make them (e.g. Gibson, Seymour Duncan, etc.) but what have you tried and what would you recommend? Also, where to shop? Playing P-90 equipped guitars in the music store is one thing, but I am interested in hearing what others experiences have been.

Members GuyaGuy
you know what's weird? normally when i buy a cheaper guitar my first impulse is to replace the pups. but the inexpensive guitars i've played with P-90s have all sounded good. the Agile HARM comes to mind. same's true of my Fullerton Mosrite-style 12 string. strat pups and the like need Alnico to sound nice and warm; ceramic make them all pingy. but ceramic seems to work well on P-90's--i guess because they're so midsy... Members lostandfoundpdx
i wish this was true of the pu's in my tempest... they are duncan designed, and totally lame. they are actual p90s, not thier hum cancelling ones, but they just don't sound good... very flat and uninteresting. Members gil1
I've had the Gibsons that cam in various guitars (pretty good), and Duncan Antiquities (which I couldn't tell if they were good or not, because I didn't like the guitar they were in, a Blueshawk.) If I were looking at P-90, I'd look at Lollars. http://www.lollarguitars.com/Pickups.htm

Members Jayou
I also 2nd the Lollar pickups! Great hi-fi spank and sparkle tones! And they are hot as {censored}; be prepared to crank the amp to keep it clean.

Members angus_old
but ceramic seems to work well on P-90's--i guess because they're so midsy... aren't the G&L MFD pickups basically ceramic P90s?
