Members capnbringdown
For those who play acoustic, can you still play fast on it? I always get the feeling that as soon as most people pick up an acoutic, they lose the ability to play fast. Not that playing fast is the only sign of good musicianship, but is this true? For me, it isn't. It's still just as sloppy and borderline out of control as ever.
Members dysorexia
uh...yeah I don't see why you wouldn't be able to.
Members beardcom
I just started practicing on my acoustic again, which has i think 13 guage strings and the worst action on earth. I'm getting way, way better at guitar overall.
Members Armoredfist316
fingers are the same, but i feel like i can almost pick faster on an acoustic
Members loofery
I'm pretty sure playing an acoustic improves your speed on electric, instead of slowing it down ....
Members 4Kenoath
I think playing acoustic guitars has increased Tommy Emmanuel's speed and accuracy no end. It's more tactile and immediate. Check out his YouTube vids.
Members tim gueguen
Go and check out some of John McLaughlin's older albums such as Music Spoken Here and the Shakti albums if you want fast acoustic playing
Members freeridstylee
yea my friend quit playing rock/electric (why, well idk, I think he's got something wired wrong in his head) to play bluegrass. And he can fly on a big old 13 gage acoustic. Now when he picks up an electric he's even faster.
Members thenakedarab
The more I play acoustic the better I am overall in my experience.
Members kittycaster
Yeah, the more I play acoustic the better my electric playing becomes. But if haven't picked up an acoustic in a while (which I haven't), then when I pick it up I feel pretty slow.Playing acoustic is good for the chops! Members HKSblade1
string guage makes it harder. I play acoustic in between jams just to stay more capable!
