hmmm, what seems to be the problem ?

Dreamtone FX seems like a one man operation

I had a pedal that needed repair once, the company was also a one man operation and it took more than 6 months but in the end it turned out just fine.

Just checked out his website... that's a hell of a product line for just one guy! I hope it's just growing pains causing the problems for you guys.

+1 He does have a hell of a product line, and he has some reasons for his problems getting work to the customers, but there is never an excuse for keeping customers out of the problem loop . . .

Maybe this is the reason for your problem:

Dreamtone FX no longer takes direct orders, with the exception of custom unit(s). Pedals can still be bought direct from Dreamtone if, you need a custom color, a custom LED, specific function switches, or just feel the need to buy direct. Purchases can still be made and direct prices are posted. If a custom unit is not needed I recommend all purchases be made through www.nitro-tone.com as you will save money, their prices will be cheaper then buying direct from DreamTone FX. Also any pedal bought from Nitro Tone Music will ship immediately as they are already built and ready to ship.

Maybe he's trying to keep nitro-tone happy, at the expense of filling existing, direct orders.

That might be the case as well, but there is never any good excuse for bad customer service . . .

Yep, he should fill your order first, or in the order it came in.

Just noting that info, which might explain but not excuse his lack of attention.

Damn, I missed this thread.

FWIW, Seth sent me a tube driver, and another pedal (I would have to look in my saved dreamtone email folder to see what it was called). They both were VERY intermittant. Sometimes they sounded KILLER and sometimes they sounded like {censored}. I sent them back. He fixed them supposedly and sent them to me still broke. I sent them back and he has had them ever since. He still has my CE-1 he said he could fix, as well as a TS-9 he was going to mod for me and just charge me for the cost of parts he had laying around. He says it got stolen off his front porch. He has had this stuff since about Dec/Jan. 2005/06.

Seth seemed like a decent guy when he first started out. I dont know WTF happened, but I hope he will make it right. He was very patient in the beginning cause I kept changing my mind about what I wanted since he was so damn enthusiastic about all of his pedals. But after he got the cash it turned into saying things like ; You will wait however long you HAVE to wait to get your pedals so quit whining like a baby!!; and stuff like that. I did get the Dirtbox3, but I dont really use it cause it has got some bad memories attatched. :(

I have and use the magic boost 2 which is probably an Orman based boost, but it just sounds so good I can't let it go even when I put it up for sale I always take it back down.

Seth Mirabella owes me $150 for a pedal I sent him money for, that he was selling on eBay last September 2006. It was a Boss Space-D. He never sent me the pedal. He was supposed to stop the bid on a Buy It Now. After not sending me that pedal, he promised to send me another one like it. Months dragged on and even though I emailed him he kept saying he had a line on one and was going to pick it up. After January 2007 came around. He emails me, after I'd emailed him, and he asks for my address, again and says he had the pedal and was going to send it to me. Nothing showed up and I did not hear from him again until April of 2007. I asked him several times to refund my $150. He never answered me. Finally, after getting frustrated that he would not send me a Space-D or my money, I asked him to make me a foot switch like a Lehle 3@1. He answered and said he would and that he likes his customers to be happy.. that was May 2007. Come June 2007 I asked him what was the progress and to keep me posted. He said "np man =)"

Here it is September 12 2007, I find him selling a Sexy Vibes pedal on eBay. I emailed from his bid page and asked him what was happening. I asked him to send my money back being fed up. He answers me through eBay and asks for me to send him my "addy". I sent it to him again and reminded him whom to make it out to. He then answers me and says.."What are you talking about..i sent you pedal months ago..I asked for your addy so I could send you info on new products.". I answered him and asked him to prove he sent me something. I never received anything from Seth Mirablella going on a year and 20 days. He has not answered me since Sept. 12 '07.I reported the incident to the Better Business Bureau online for South Carolina. Mirabella did not answer the BBB after several notices. Finally the BBB closed the case as "UNANSWERED"

This guy Seth is out of control. When I first sent him the money through Western Union, he told me to send it to A SODUS POINT New York address. After doing so, he yells at me for sending the $150 to the wrong address! He then tells me he had asked me to send the payment to Sumter SC. But that was not the case. I sent him his email to me, instructing the cash to be sent to 8299 S Shore Rd. Sodus Point, New York. He calmed down a bit but for a while there was some irate emails coming from him on how everyone is falling over themselves running after his pedals.

Mirabella's claiming he sent me a pedal is a bad sign following all the other emails he sent me telling me the pedal was on its way.. Now he's running away from his debt and making me out to be the bad guy...Something is not right. Perhaps he's planning to outrun the statute of limitations on small claims, which I think is 3 years. All of us out of State, from South Carolina are in a bad way if he does not make good his responsibilities..

Mirabella even copied my motto "your sound" from my recording studio website, that I coined 7 years ago. Of course I gave him my web address during the course of working things out with him since Sept. 2006, since he was making it difficult to make good his promises. I noticed on his website he had recently added "Your Sound" the way you like it..

What else does this guy want to take from me?

I don't feel so bad after reading all the posts on the problem. I'm really astonished that it's this bad. It's a shame. I have never heard dreamtone pedals. If it's as good as claimed it would be nice if the technology can be rescued. I once told Seth, he should get someone to handle the business end of things while he just works on pedal design.

Still nothing from seth on my end. It seems many people have problems with his pedals being intermittant. Most likely grounding problems due to the spaghetti wiring inside the things. He tries to fix that by epoxying or gluing everything into place instead of taking his time doing a decent wiring job. It has taken him 2 years now to fix 2 pedals he sold me that were intermittant anyone that can work a multimeter and trace a circuit could figure out where the bad short is. Still nothing from him and a TS-9 he was going to fix for me got "stolen" and a CE-1 he said he could fix got dropped in the toilet be his niece (or someone). I told him just to box everything up as is and ship it. Still Nothing.

This is what makes things more agitated. He has your pedals and discontinued ones at that, and he refuses to be responsible for the loss. You would think he would at least offer to pay for your CE-1 or get you a replacement.

He still has not answered me as after emailing me and making a bogus claim that he sent me a pedal months ago. When I answered him (several times) asking about his claim, I have yet to hear back from him.

Well, I sent him another email. I have a special email folder that contains copies of emails we have exchanged around 93 from me to him and 52 from him to me. All since october 22 2005. This is a crazy. Everytime I email he its the same thing. "I have a huge deal in the works with another company and when I am done with it you will get much more than the pedals I owe you".... :cop:

Bull. I told him when more people start reporting him to the BBB he would get in deep {censored} and he said "The BBB is a private organization left over from the 50's and 60's that doesn't hold any true power anymore". I guess the thing that pisses me off most is he isn't like other pedal manufacturers that up and disappeared. He is still around making money and apparently taking advantage of others. I need to go on HC reviews and put in some new reviews to outweigh the old ones I put in. Funny thing is most of the reviews on HC reviews for dreamtone were done by Seth...

His pedals I have tried has a great base sound that is often plauged by poor ground connections causing an intermittant signal or tone/level/dist controls that are useless.

I always find it hard to believe how any unknown person can say they are making a new pedal and 100 people on this forum will send him money. Don't send money to people you don't know. There are a bunch of scammers out there who will be out to make a few thousand bucks or more quickly by doing this and then disappearing because it's so easy. I know of a few of them, they have been around for years doing the pawn shop thing before the internet, now it's eaiser and the tempation is too tough to resist.

Some initially mean well, they think they can do it, but when you have dozens of orders you learn how hard it is to actually get things done and one by one the orders get messed up until there is no way to catch up, then they disappear.

Good luck, hope this does not turn out so badly.

p.s.

I caught one of my COMPetitors doing that several years ago, Scott at H-C just looked at the IP address then erased them.

but he's on eBay selling pedals that are not even his like Boss. He has a 100% feedback rating. I complained to ebay about that, Since he is smart enough to keep his rating up, he comes off looking squeaky clean. In my case he agreed to sell the item on a BIN. After he got the money he reneged on his promise. Since I was not able to push a BIN number I had no record on eBay that I purchased something, however he had my money. So what Seth does is bamboozle when and where he can. He's hiding behind his 100% feedback rating as bait. Ebay is behind the 8 ball on this just as we are.

You've got that right. The boob can't even spell "disappoint." You can tell it's the same poster on two different effects posts. "JMack" on the GERM BOOSTER and "name" on the STEREO CHORUS. He spelled it "disapointed" on the STEREO CHORUS posts and "disapoint" on the GERM BOOSTER post.

Sounds like the same thing. Lots of emails.

i reported him to ebay but they say they can't do anything. What if we bid on his pedals and don't pay him..? eBay has a record of this forum's complaints. They recommend going to the police.. Anybody from South Carolina that can do that?

If you really want your money. Just get a plane ticket. I can tell you thats what I'd do if he had my money, and I don't care if it's just 100 it's the principal. Liar's anger me worse than anything except thieves so this guy sounds like trash to me. I don't even know him but from what you've said I would like to go there myself. Go to the town he is from and find his house. You have the address you sent the money to just mapquest it. When you get there take 100 dollars worth of stuff (I usually take more than the owed amount). Just go into his shop or room where he works and take the stuff he's got. Can you imagine this crook if a couple of you showed up on his doorstep. I bet he's the kind that would be a coward in person. I've dealt with the type. I have had to do this in other situations before (although I have only went out of state for money once... but it was ALOT of it!). As a matter of fact I am going to south Alabama this weekend to collect some money from a guy who has been dicking my grandfather around.

You've got the idea... and that has been crossing my mind for a while now. Unfortunately I'm over the ocean...I'll bet he likes that...This is a job for Super Soprano!

Hey guys,

Someone sent me an email referring me to this post about Dreamtone. I own and run The Vintage Sound, at one time I was going to carry his pedals but his turnaround time and customer service stories were terrible. In the beginning I offered to help him with hosting his website. Soon after, I designed and built his website in exchange for a few pedals. The first pedal had a bad grounding, sent it back. A year later, finally sends another pedal that was nothing like it was supposed be.

He offered earlier this year to be a dealer, where I had to do a "buy-in" as most manufacturers do, but given his track record with me I declined. Right now I am still hosting his site, but after hearing these stories I dont know if I will continue to do so. If you guys need anything from me just me know. I will give him a call tonight and see what his deal is. I cant be apart of something or support a company / "friend" (as he calls it) with this time of behavior to his customers.

I'll keep you guys posted.

Steve
