Members mike.sartori Posted February 5, 2007 Members Posted February 5, 2007 Ok, I'm puting a fuzz face circuit inside my strat, and I think I'm going with silicon instead of germanium for reliability/cost/ease of finding parts. However, even though finding silicon transistors in not so hard, there are so many that people use for fuzz-faces! I think I want lo-gain, (relatively) so If anyone can point me in the right direction, I would really apreciate it!

The lowest gains are A, mediums are B, and highest are C. Buy a couple BC108Bs and a couple of BC109Cs and mix'n'match, experiment. Good luck! Also check in at http://diystompboxes.com/ for more info (and use the search function there, as there is a treasure trove of data already in the archives).
Members Hanglow Posted February 5, 2007 Members Posted February 5, 2007 The colorsound one knob fuzz uses BC108 and 109's. It's a tiny build too (as are most fuzz's I guess - I've just made one up but have yet to test it so don't know how it sounds. http://aronnelson.com/gallery/album21 I used that, getting it through diystompboxes.
Members autopilot Posted February 5, 2007 Members Posted February 5, 2007 i like 2n3904 for silicon fuzz face
Members mlabbee Posted February 5, 2007 Members Posted February 5, 2007 Check out the Sili-Face or Sili-Face II from runoffgroove.com - I built the II in a box and am pretty happy with it.
