Members Zlandicar
If you get 'phones, go with the Sennheiser HD600s. I have yet to find a better reference headphone. The newer 650s are nice, but very pricey, and very bass-heavy. It's also worth getting a better cable for it; the stock one isn't so great. As for speakers, do you need something very portable? I personally use a pair of Behringer TRUTH B2031A. The best monitors they make, and the best I've heard of the type and in the price range. But they are large and very heavy. They have internal amplifiers, TRS inputs and everything.
Members The*Ataris
This stuff is incredible: http://www.axiomaudio.com/ ...better than anything you'll find in a Best Buy, etc. Best bang for the buck I could find, and I looked at a {censored}-ton of speakers before buying 'em. Really comparable to a pair of B&W's I was looking at...for 2/3 the price. I'm actually looking to buy a turntable in the next few months. I have a bunch of vinyl and I've never heard it...
