Members Wooke1906
Does PODXT have more features/sounds? Or just better usability? And is the price difference worth paying? Im a Truck driver just needing a good sounding box to use headphones through while i'm on the road, I have a zoom g2 and its terrible. Any advice? Members Geno_xl
it's like night and day... I can't stand the crappy sounds that come out of the old pod. The amp models in the new pod xt sound much more realistic to my ear. Plus, you can download the different amp model packs, like classic, metal and even the effects junkie. If you look you can pick up a used one on ebay for just over $200. It's definitely worth the extra money.
Members trlkvsky
Well, if you don't need all the extra variety, the POD 2.0 might be just fine for you. I've used one for a long time... I still do actually for home recording and rehearsals. Instead of lugging an amp, I just plug my POD into a power amp feeding a 2x12 Marshall cab at rehearsals and it sounds great. That being said, I mainly use one or two settings and I'm not desperately trying to get a particular amp sound. You might have a more realistic sound with the XT if that's what you're looking for... FWIW our drummer brings his XT (he also plays guitar) for the other guitarist in our band, and I think the common consensus is that my sounds are slightly better, but that probably just means I've spent more time with mine. I think both would be good for what you want to do, but an XT will definitely provide more variety in the long run.

But that can be a bad thing if you're not into tweaking. I've had my XT Live for pushing a year and I'm still tweaking. Also, I got the Collector Classics model pack extension and there are some great models in there that I've been tweaking lately.
Members gil1
I had the POD 2.0 and XT, and for me, I liked the 2.0 much better. I just thought the overdrive sounds were more natural and warmer. The XT modeled a lot of the quirks of amps, but I liked the 2.0 tone better.
