Which Flanger Will Crash My Yogurt Truck?

Is the "custom shop" MXR-90 Script with LED indicator preferable to the ubiquitous orange MXR-90? I guess $30 to $40 more is not all that excessive for more headroom and 'vintage feel', which the Script possesses.

My primary musical interests lie in the Midwestern School of Pigblanker Rock circa 1983 to 1987: Butthole Surfers, Scratch Acid, Glass Eye, Zeitgeist, and so on. I also dig music from the UK created five years prior to the afforementioned groups. Man, I really love "Israel" by Siouxsie. I've said it countless times already but I'll say it again. Hehehehhehe.

Beardy, elbow patch, sandal wearers of Petaluma should not denigrate my musical tastes! I'm down with Blue Cheer, QMS, Bubble Puppy, 50 Foot Hose.

Do I gather up as many 88 millihenry torroids as I can find, lump some LC constants together, and roll my own. Ooops, that would be a ring modulator.

Script or Standard-Issue?

Tiki? Anderton? Leary? Gibby? Wakeman? Bruford?

Anyone?

Thank you!

TIKI mentioned yesterday that the 'Israel' sound is a mxr flanger into a jc-120

Yes, I remember. Is it correct to assume that today's custom shop Script is sonically equivalent to the mass-marketed MXR flanger of that era? I know there have been design changes through the years. Are the components of the Script re-issue truly of that vintage or similar? And is there enough of a difference for me to be concerned? That's what I'm not entirely sure of.

I'd honestly get a vintage one....the prices haven't exactly skyrocketed yet....they sell on ebay sub 200 all the time :thu:

I was just seein' if you were alert. There's no need to go all R. Lee Ermey on me!!

If'n you had been more polite, I'd let ya spank out some classical compositions on my 652 mm scale length Cedar top modeled after Torres with a Gilbert pin bridge and Gilbert tuners.

When you're ready to forgive, I'll let you to borrow my Anon Duul II DVD.

Again, flanger or phaser? MXR does not make a Script flanger (I don't think they ever did) but as inscho said, you can get the real deal on ebay for less than a new EVH model and about the same as a standard one. The custom shop script pedal is the Phase 90 phase shifter.

Sorry, I meant Phaser. I see that the MXR Phase 90 is around $70 new. Whereas, the MXR Script Phase 90 is available at $100 new. The EVH is about $130.

Is the recently reissued MXR Script Phase 90 essentially the same sonically as the earlier incarnations of the Phase 90? Did they re-create the 'vintage vibe' fairly accurately?

Ahhh ... gotchya. 10-4. Thank yioux! :thu:

I assume that I might as well invest the $30 bucks extra to buy the Script instead of the "standard-issue" or EVH. More headroom, LED option, etc.
