One pedal = lead channel > metal and clean > SRV?

Hi guys,

Would you help me please? I have a Traynor 50 tube amp... running a Zoom GFX1 in the loop for standard effects. I like the effects fine, but the distortions are poor. However, I have found a couple that work at low volume for a couple of things:

1) The "metal" drive gives me a cool high gain that lets my fingers move much more quickly over the fretboard. It hangs on the edge of feedback if I stop moving.. it feels very liquid and smooth.

2) The "blues" drive seems OK on the clean channel for an SRV tone.. or the "fender" drive does this

All the drives on this thing go to crap at higher volumes.

The Traynor 50 has two channels with a boost. The clean is great to my ears and breaks up nicely. The lead channel is Marshally British and is great without the boost for bluesy edge. The boost adds more gain for a nice classic rock overdrive.

Thanks for bearing with me. What I am looking for is a distortion/overdrive pedal that could give me that over the top metal tone on the lead channel and give me an edgy SRV tone on the clean channel. I would have a nice selection of tones with minimum pedals.

The other thing is I like the uncolored tones of this amp, which I always like available to me. Thats why I like this cheap little Zoom GFX1 for effects. I hardly use my GNX2 anymore... it changes things too much.

Thanks for your ideas.

Foxrox Zim with Rat card and either CS or H9 or VT card on the other side. I use this for a very broad range of music and I can get anything with my Zim

are you talking about the t+ card?

I just can't imagine not having all the controls that are offered in a rat (volume filter gain) you have to fine tweek them to which amp you are using.....

really curious about that pedal. I love the idea of the swapping

yep....but I don't understand you. The Zim channel B has way more control than a regular rat. The voicing channels combined with the boost/cut give you waaaaay more variety than a simple tone knob. you have volume, gain, and 8 voicings with boost cut.

I play with 4 amps rotating with 8 guitars and it only takes a second to dial in depending on which ones I am using.

I listened to those fuzz clips. Nice and fuzzy!

Now I have to decide what I need.

So I'm thinking that the T+ card and the VT would be good. I play typical rock covers and a little country.

Dave has an exchange program too so if you get one and are not completely happy with the results you can switch it for another for a minimal fee.
