Members i51423
wah/volume in one? Ya. I'm going to try modding my GCB95 Crybaby, but I suck at schematics so I'll probably fudge it up. There's no guarantee it will work that well. The mod is based on the Jen-wah volume/wah circuit. I was just curious if there were any production models besides like the Rogue. I know there's the old DOD, but I hear that it's got a weird wah sound. Members bnelly428
I have a morley pro series wah/wolume.. it's ok, I'd rather have a crybaby, but the crybaby wah/volume is like $90 or something.... Might be better off using two pedals, a crybaby and a EB jr volume
Members Speeddemon
DOD FX-17. Has a switch to select either volume or wah-mode. No pot, but optical stuff inside. The wah sound of this one is an acquired taste so to speak. And I've also found that when you tweaked the wah-tone with the 2 trimpots, the volume pedal doesn't work as 'fluently' and vice versa. Might be better off using two pedals, a crybaby and a EB jr volume I don't have the room on my pedalboard for both. I don't even know why I want a wah, I'll probably use it twice. If I can get one with both, I'll definitely find a use for it somewhere in a song. I just want one to have on my board just in case the inspiration spikes, but I also want a volume pedal for swells. I already have a GCB95 that I'm going to at least mod to be a better wah pedal. I already TB'd it. I'm going to change out some components next. If I can figure out this volume mod, I'm really hoping it works. I suck at relating a schematic to a physical circuit. It throws me off. The volume mod is based off of the one on the Tonepad wah pedal(which is based off the Jen-wah pedal). If anyone could help me relate this to a GCB95 board from the Tonepad schem, that would be super. The Tonepad schem is here. All I hear about the Morleys is that they're kinda poopy. Members desertlimosine
I used the "Mr. Crybaby" for 6 years. When not in wah mode, it's in volume mode. There is also a switch for boost (only in volume mode) and a knob for the set volume boost. I havent used it lately since the pedal recently started acting up on me (like i said, after 6 years of good use).

Members i51423
I guess I should also mention that I want a passive volume pedal so I can use it as an expression pedal, too. Am I asking for too much?
Members mueller
The volume mod for a crybaby is pretty easy. It's not terribly useful, as when the heel is all the way down, you still get some signal going through. Anyway, follow my sweet diagram: Lifting the ground of the 4.7uF cap changes the wah into a volume pedal, so if you desolder it from the board (should be the leg on the right), connect a wire to one terminal of a simple on/off (SPST) switch, and connect the other terminal to where you took the ground wire from on the board, it will be wah / volume when the switch is on / off respectively. Already tried that and wasted my time. The sweep was way too minimal and not very volume pedal-like. Can't do swells too well with that. I wish it was that easy. Members i51423
Meh. It still lets a bit of signal through at the bottom. I need to go pick up another 4.7uF cap to put the other 220K resistor on. I wasn't thinking and installed it without checking out what needed to be done for the mod. It's got a lot more sweep than just simply lifting the ground on the 4.7uF cap, but it still lets signal through. Needless to say, I'm disappointed. I'll have to see if that final 220K resistor between the ground on the 4.7uF will make the difference.
Members puddinstone
I was just thinking of this tonight at a gig. I was using a buddy's Pod XT with a short board (blah! not a fan of modeling...but sometimes I have to...) and it has a Volume pedal that works like a Wah when you click it on but back to vol when you click it off again. Why don't more people make these things?

Members Splendor
Second the Gig-FX Megawah... it rules. Can you switch between wah & volume modes without reaching down and flicking the switch?
Members Zlandicar
Can you switch between wah & volume modes without reaching down and flicking the switch? No. It's a knob that selects the mode. But you can't with the GD's either unless you're very careful. Those use a SPST switch.

Members Karma1
I used to have the Morley wah/vol that also had built-in distortion (although I never used that). All in all a decent pedal. I also had the DOD FX17 - I wouldn't recommend it.
