Members woodsmandan
Hey !!! This morning I was asking this board for info about a Dynacord Echocord Super I found nearby...I'll pick it up tomorrow, as it's a one hour drive to get there... At lunch time I drop by the local pawn shop and see this old mixing board...it gets my attention because it says Dynacord, and I've been looking up Dynacord stuff on the net for 2 days... So I check it out and find out that under the hood, there is a solid state tape echo hiding !!! After some searches, I just found out that it's basically an Echocord Mini integrated in those 1973 Dynacord Eminent 100 power mixers... I got away with it for 100$... See below for pics... And I'm still picking up the Echocord tomorrow

Members woodsmandan
Here are the pics: I didn't try it at the pawn shop when I picked it up, I know the guy there and he let me bring it home try it out for a week... Of course, it doesn't work... The only thing that works is the delay's motor...other than that, nothing. No signal, no nothing. Upon inspection, a few fuses happenned to be blown, so tomorrow I'll get some fresh ones, we'll see then... I don't know if I'm gonna keep it if it's broken...it's only 100$ for a genuine tape delay, but even if I get it fixed, I wonder if it can be usable as a guitar effect, since the echo sits inside a 100w solid state PA that my signal will have to go trough...or maybe there's a way to bypass the power... Anyway, tomorrow I'm picking up my Echocord!!!

Members Mad Max
For 100 bucks!!!!!!!! There aren't enough icons to express the awesomness of that deal!!!! Replace the fuses, and if that doesn't work, take a LOT of detailed pics and post them over in the DIY forum, hopefully somebody over there can help you get it working. That thing looks AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING if you can make it work. Mixing desk with a built in tape echo. Thats a great sign that the motor still works...I think that's usually the most difficult part to replace. Members bieke
if it's just a couple of fuses to get it working again, that is a one helluva score that desk has a dedicated input for guitar and you can see the black rubber wheel, the critical part of the tape echo the motor appears to be the same as in the older Echocords it's indestructible when I got my Echocord, I emailed Dynacord to ask for more info and they mailed me the old brochure and apologized that they no longer had spare parts for the unit. I used to have a Echocord Super75, def. unerrated machines... let me guess the ins and outs are 5-pin?
Members BryanMichael
That's pretty cool, but not to piss on anyone's parade- if you get that thing working, I'm betting it's going to be noisy and not really that great sounding.but maybe you can overdrive a channel into a Beatles like revolution fuzz! tech tip: Check the capacitors on the boards, they may have burst open. If the motor, rubber wheel and maybe recording heads are the same as the ones on the Echocord I'm picking up today, the thing is worth keeping for spare parts alone!!! Well, I'm leaving in an hour to go get the Echocord (wich btw will cost me 100$ also ...)...on my way back I'll get some fuses for the board and tonight I will be testing the hell out of them Now I have to find some DIN cables to be able to hook the echocord to anything... Members woodsmandan
Echocord is in tha house! The 2 100$ Dynacord tape echoes... 10 years apart, can you tell? Very old, very rusty, some wheels missing...but I think I have everything I need in the Eminent 100 to fix the Echocord... It lights up, motor spins, tubes glow...I just don't have the cables to hook it up... Ain't it strange ? One day locate a 100$ Echocord, investigate about it, the day after I find a Dynacord PA, also 100$, that has basically the same tape system, the third day I get the Echocord to find out that some parts are missing...parts that looks brand new in the PA !!! Ah yes...tubes are a nice plus. I would say no matter what don't do anything that would make it so you can't put the Eminent back together as it is now. I guarantee you in working order that thing is worth plenty more than $100.
Members woodsmandan
Are those funky tubes in it? It says ecc82 on the chassis, but most of them are actually 12au7 and 12at7...
