Members C Fuzz
Man I can't get into that stuff anymore. Even 4 years ago I lived for metal. Things just change, I can't explain it, just can't take this stuff seriously anymore. The guitars were too low and the vocals too loud I thought, For that type of music anyway. But good for them, incredible musicians.
Members murch33
Randy needs to be in front of a massive pit to really get a feel for what he can do. That was a very subdued performance.
Members ck3
I guess I don't understand that, either... Internet slang for brutality? It's adolescent angst expressed in alphanumeric format ... my hair is progressively graying, so the concept is a bit foreign to me as well ... but I'll always be a metalhead at heart ... even if the newer bands are incredibly derivative. Members Dr.Picklebottom
all these bands are in all the guitar magazines. whenever i buy one ill read stuff about bands ive never even heard of, just to hear what theyre doing with their gear and {censored}. then, later ill see the bands on mtv2 or headbangers ball (sometimes i watch because its funny) and i just dont get it. totally unmusical noise with someone screaming through a megaphone. who likes this garbage and why does the press take them seriously? Have you ever tried to play some of their stuff? A lot of it is quite a bit harder than it looks, especially at the speed they play at. Mark and Willie absolutely smoke their fretboards, and Chris is one of the most underrated metal drummers out there. Whether or not you care for the genre has nothing to do with their talent as musicians.
Members PartyPooper
i agree with murch. im a longtime metal fan and while im not really into the newer stuff, Lamb of God is one of the few new metal bands i respect. Willie and Mark are both quite technical on the rhythym end although they lack leadwork sometimes. Chris is an insane drummer as well.
Members lostandfoundpdx
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UBY91O9ifAA i dunno about this... i saw these guys live (with slipknot and shadows fall, hahaha, i had free tickets) and they were pretty weak live as well. i think they are just another nu wave of metal formula. now, heavy/dark bands never do very well on conan, i think their sound mixer and the fact the audience is 30 feet away sitting down doesn't help. i dunno, me and my friends used to listen to dragonforce when valley of the damned came out as a joke when we were on tour, and now i see them in every page of every guitar mag out there, which is so bizarre to me. Secondly, there's an excellent quote by Al Di Meola that I'll paraphrase because I don't have it in front of me. It goes something like this... "People that say 'You can be more expressive with one note than you can with 100' are the same people that can't play fast. They pick a talent that they lack, then they attack it and justify it by saying that it's something that they never wanted in the first place." Calling the music crap, the vocalist crap, and the band a joke isn't an argument... It's saying "Wah, wah! I don't like it therefore it sucks!"
