Members angelhair0
I am in the market for a new guitar! I'm pretty sure I want a new Fender. I already have a custom Tele was some good mods, so I don't want another Tele for now. I also on't think I want a Strat but maybe some of you feel otherwise? I really want something along the lines of a Cyclone, Jaguar, Mustang or Jazzmaster. Cyclones look {censored}ing amazing but I don't know if they are still being made? I only really want to spend $600 total, but keep in mind, I get good discounts there because my friend is the manager. (I got a $450 guitar for $375 last time I bought a guitar there. I also got a $600 head for $475.) I don't have a lot of cash, only GC money to spare (from warranty checks, gift certificates, etc). I know quite a bit about effects these days but I'm stupid with guitars and amps. I don't know {censored} about pickups besides the fact that the pickups in my Schecter sound like {censored}in Creed, and that P90's are the most talked about pickups on this forum. With all that in mind, along with the fact that I play ambient/experimental/indie bull{censored} rock through a Fender Twin, what guitar do you think I should get and that I can afford? It's got to be still in production, and something I can buy/order from GC, obviously. Posted some pictures of some ideas of guitars I know I can order through GC, although I don't really know how they sound. I haven't owned any Fenders besides my Tele all my life. ^

Members Armoredfist316
What do you have already (besides the tele)? Why not a strat?
Members murch33
Depending on what they have in stock, I'd follow inscho's advice and just get a Jazzmaster. But out of those pics, the red pearloid pickguard looks really good on that white body.
Members YourHerodDGC
I want a mustang real bad. I love the pickup switching, and LOVED the trem.

Members angelhair0
I love Inscho's advice, and I so would. Most of them are all $1300+ new. What's so {censored}ty about the trem? I've played Strats before and I like them a lot, I just didn't think it was for me. But I could be wrong. Like I said, I don't know much about Fenders or pickups for that matter. I have a Schecter XXX that is on eBay right now, selling quite nicely. I have a PRS CE (the cheap PRS, which I actually like a lot). A Tele (American Standard) but with another pickup and a 5-way pickup switch (and the tone knob is a pull-out that activates extra pickup combinations). I had a Jagmaster and an old Yamaha something or other that I sold on HC for parts because they were both pretty busted. I had so many other guitars but I sold them all. I didn't care to collect much when I was younger. I used to sell anything I didn't use. I'm not so much like that, now.
Members Tenine
White Mustang. No doubt about it. I'm getting a Mustang bass (hopefully) soon (same colour and scratchplate).

Members angelhair0
That Jag, the last one in the pictures I posted.. you think GC could get me that in other colors, too? I don't know how to check and see what they can order for me.. I don't know if there is a website or something I can see that has everything they have listed. Actually I'm gonna call my friend there right now and see

Members gorebuc
The black one is the only one on the American market, and the Japs aren't allowed to import anymore Still interested in my guit?
Members NITEFLY182
What's so {censored}ty about the trem? I had to set many of them up and theyre a pain to work on. They also dont tolerate heavy strings very well and theyre worse than floyds for tuning. Some people like them though and thats cool for them. Ill stick to what works for me. What? REALLY? LAMEEEEE. I love the black, but if I could find that in some sort of crazy bright color, that would be so awesome. What's the story on the importing issue?Yea, I am! Money is tight.. like I said, keep it on the market. I'm tryin to get the money to spare but I have to make sure I have enough to pay my bills every month. This thread is specifically dedicated to the GC money I have, that I can't spend elsewhere.

Didn't know there was such a thing!I use 11s because of all my crazy detunings, so I'll need to be able to use heavy strings. How would you feel about setting up my new guitar when I get it? I'll have to have someone do it because of alternate tuning and 11 gauge strings, and I don't trust myself to do the best job.
Members gorebuc
They have em in Sonic BLues, Metallic Red and Blue, Sunburst, and Seaside Green? in Japan, I think. Fender recently stopped allowing the Japanese stores to sell to Americans, I guess because those sells were undermining the sales of MIA guitars because of the cool offbeat models available CIJ. Its sad, b/c you could have one of those Jag H/H's imported for around $700.
Members thenakedarab
Get a Strat with the three sc layout; you will not regret it. The inbetween tones are so {censored}in sweet clean, and the middle and neck tones slay with some distortion.

Members angelhair0
I can do it. .011s are {censored}ing great at standard though. What tuning do you use? 11s hurt my fingers in standard. Generally, APK is a whole step down, and the E string does down to C. Often, I tune the other strings up or down depending on the song. Sometimes a half step, sometimes a whole, sometimes a step and a half. In either direction. And I use a capo a lot, and sometimes I move it within the song. Our other guitarist uses 12s and he is in the same tuning.
Members NITEFLY182
Drop C is a good tuning for a lot of different styles. I like the full bass that you get but you can still sound like something other than metal with ease.

Every band I've ever been in where I've played guitar has been in Drop C regardless of what the other musicians in my band have tuned to.
