Got one today for $15 since im selling all my dirt pedal and needed something to hold me over that could cover a lot of ground. stock it didnt. it went from distortion to way more distorted, the tone knob is un usable past 10:00 and not a lot of volume, i needed it to do some OD , and not the cranked marshall Od.

I increased r13 in hopes that it would lower the gaina t the lowest setting but it only affected the max gain. so i just removed the Clipping diodes, and voila, it can do OD now and very dynamic too. now is open sounding and wiht the gain at the lowest setting is pretty much clean with moderate picking pick hard and it overdrives nicely.

since i got the gain responce i needed , now i need some mods for the tone stack, mainly i want a bit more mids, and to make the tone knob usable past 10:00.

can any one help me?

thanx

C-1: .1uf

C-12: .1uf--> later changed to .047uf

C-5: .1uf

C-20: .047uf

C-21: .047uf

D-4: N4002-->later added a .003uf cap across diode.

D-5: N4002

D-8: 1n34A Ge diode

what do these mods affect?

is d-8 a clipping diode too? cuase i just removed d4- and d5 and i really like the gain responce so mainly i just need the tone knobs.

i got a .1uf cap in my tool box, might need to try that in c12

Looking at the schem (http://www.indyguitarist.com/schematics/boss/DS1PG2.jpg)

D8 is part of the switching circuit. In other words, no effect at all on sound.

Removing c12 won't remove the tonestack, but it WILL make it not work very good. That is a big muff style tonestack.

Changing C1 isn't going to do much for you, maybe a little better bypass tone.

C5 is going to allow more signal into the opamp after the first transistor clipping stage.

C20 and C21 is part of the switching circuit. No effect on sound.

Hope that helps! :)
