Members gregovertone
it started here. my gf' bought this for me, for college graduation. it started a love affair with the telecaster. fascinated with the tele, i wanted to get a 'well made' tele, and something traditional. avri 52. i was blown away, so i was curious to see what a real vintage tele would be like. helllloooo 73' tele deluxe. finish checking anyone? after rocking those for a while, i decided i was gonna build a tele....that was 1/2 52ri, and 1/2 tele deluxe. i scored a cij Tele Custom, and have gone to work from there. as of now, it has upgraded electronics, and Vintage Wide Range humbucker in the neck, and an AVRI 52 pickup in the bridge. new neck is in the works. more pics here
Members bluehuricane
i like the bigger pickguards, so.... congrats on keeping them at a 3:1 ratio!!
Members Wilbo26
How do you like the Tele Deluxe? The GAS is strong for that one.
Members vigor&kandor
do you like the humbuckers in those reissues? I thought they were way to muddy and i couldn't get rid of them fast enough.

Members gregovertone
wilbo--the tele deluxe rules. the strat neck is a great fit.....the body is contoured, and it plays like a dream. those pickups are fuggin ridiculous too. i LOVE them. there really isn't a sound quite like them. vigor--the RI hums suck ass. the day i got the ol' deluxe, the thinline went in the case (which is unfortunate, as it's gift from the gf), but the new hum's don't compare. i was lucky enough to find a vintage wide range locally for $200, and another on TGP for $100. I took the more appropriate one, and threw it in the neck of the cij custom. MUCH BETTER.

Phil O'Keefe
It was nothing. Now all you need is a '62 style Custom Tele with the binding... oh yeah, and maybe one with a Bigsby, and one with a B Bender. Then you'd have one of each major Tele style / model in your collection. Members Sir H C
Props for the Deluxe. Mine looks about the same. I find that the old HBs sound like single coils but a big boost in volume. Great guitars, pretty collection.

Members papa taco
that white custom is amazing. I love how you got an original wide range bucker in there. Where did you find one? I gave up trying to get them for my 72 MIJ thinline. Instead I've modified it with a custom pickguard (3 ply whiteblackwhite) and dropped a pair of vintage vibe hb sized p90's in it. Upgraded pots and switch. Now I need to get a refret and new nut. (I've used it steadily for 12+ years now.)

I find that the old HBs sound like single coils but a big boost in volume. Great guitars, pretty collection. agreed. they are a killer neck pickup, for just that. a few days with the custom now, and i am really awe-struck as to the tones i can get. the bridge has the twang, and bark, and the neck has this softer touch, yet still very powerful.....not as bright, but just full and awesome sounding. it is really quite unfortunate that there isn't anyone making these pickups. i realize fender won't.....but i'm shocked to see the small builders avoid the CuNiFe design. Members sonic_tooth
Nice collection. I might be mistaken, but I think the materials for the CuNiFe pickups just are not around anymore. Sometimes it boggles the mind why companies even bother reissuing things if they are going to half-ass it. Really.... ADA flanger is the only RI equipment that comes to mind that I think is worth owning. Again nice collection. I COVET
