Members PartyPooper
not psyched at all. i think Boss has hit a dead end. they seemed like the last company that would ever do a team-up but theyve really changed in the last few years so.. although i couldnt think of a better company than Fender to team up with. Members Wilbo26
pretty much, same here. I really hope they blow me away. My main problem with these is the cash-grab side of it. Even if they sound great, Roland can build a great sounding portable amp with multiple amp models and a variety of effects and sell it for $100 bucks new, which I'm guessing is the cheapest these things will sell for. They look and might sound cool, but it seems really pointless to me.
Members paydirt
Mostly just interested to see if they sound any better than a Micro Cube and how much they cost. Saw the Deluxe Reverb on e-bay yesterday with a $149 BIN. That is probably higher than MAP since they are hard to get now.
Members lostandfoundpdx
i doubt there is a snowballs chance in hell that these could be cool. but i'll probably end up buying a deluxe reverb one just to try it out, hahaha.

Members BBTweed
I heard them at NAMM. A guy was using a Roland JC and with the DR pedal and he would A/B it back and forth with a real Deluxe Reverb. It sounded good to me. Probably the best you can get from an emulator pedal. I would still rather the actual amp. There was something missing with the pedal. It was lacking some mojo. I have no idea if that helps.

I think it is a little high also. But I probably wouldn't get one anyway.

I heard the Deluxe at NAMM through a JC-120, with a real DRRI sitting right next to it. Even though they were not properly level matched (most people, when given two otherwise identical sounds to choose from, will pick the louder one as sounding "better") and the JC-120 was noticeably louder, both my buddy and I (both guitarists as well as engineers) had the same thought and expressed it nearly simultaneously - "I'll take the Deluxe amp please!" Yes, the pedal sounds like a Deluxe, but it lacks the immediacy of the amp, and side by side with it, it sounded rather two dimensional to me by comparison. YMMV. Members JackTheRipper
I just never thought Boss would go the way of digitech, although I like th DBM. If I wanted COSM or whatever it's called, I would just buy a GT-8. I'm just waiting on someone to build a Wah/Volume/Pitch shifter that kicks ass. Digitech had a great idea with the EX-7, but fell flat on their face.
Members Wilbo26
Yeah, MAP is going to be $150. I think it is a little high also. But I probably wouldn't get one anyway. IMHO standalone modelers are just stupid...especially at that price point. While they really don't compare to a real amp, things like the POD, J-Station, V-Amp, MicroCube, DA5, etc make up for it with versatility. Paying even $100 for a one trick pony amp model in a Boss case defies logic to me...and I'm wondering how many people are going to choose them over something that isn't much more and offers so many more options. I'm assuming they have a target audience for this, but I'm baffled as to what it is. Most beginner guitarists wouldn't know a Deluxe Reverb or a '59 Bassman from a Gorilla anyways. Most beginner guitarists wouldn't know a Deluxe Reverb or a '59 Bassman from a Gorilla anyways. This is a good point. I didn't think of it that way. I was figuring that people would use it to "push" a solid state amp to get a tube like sound...some "ampiness."
Members beardcom
I saw the rc-2 in a store today... didn't really want one before but its calling my name now! i think it said 180.
Members lostandfoundpdx
i'm with you wilbo, the people in the market for a deluxe or a bassman are not the people who buy 150 dollar modelers... maybe its for the budding guitarist, like the 40 year old guy who is taking back up an old hobby or something, and doesn't wanna spend 800 on the amp, so he can get this thing to run into his POS crate that came with his POS squier. i had old guys when i worked at GC that would come in and say "i want the hendrix tone" and would throw down for the whole dunlop line of jimi pedals to run through into their V-amp or whatever into headphones... i don't understand it, but it happens. one of them was getting frustrated with all the crap he had bought, so i told him to bring back all of the pedals and junk he bought from us, and talked him into buying a mexican tele and a blues junior with the money plus a little bit more, no effects, and he LOVED it. he said " why didn't i just do this to start with?" good question:thu:
