So that Jagmaster I had listed in the SPAM thread for weeks finally sold last week on BIN for $235 w/ $30 shipping. I didn't think anyone was gonna go for the BIN, but this guy did...says he'll pay me in a week. One week, no payment...I email him...he replies "I found out MF sells Jagmasters new for $249, free shipping so I won't pay over $185 for your used Jagmaster :blah: "

Yeah, but MF's Jags don't have Retrotron Memphis pickup, a hardshell case, and stainless steel saddles. Anyway, I know its just a Squier and all of that still doesn't justify paying more than you'd pay for a new one. Again, didn't think anyone would chomp on the Buy it Now unless they knew about all of the upgrades on this guitar and didn't wanna let it get away....To be fair, he has offered to pay for fees.

So what would you do? I think I'm gonna offer him my forumite price of $225 shipped + ebay fees, unless any of you guys want a Jagmaster for that price, at which point I'll tell him I can't accept his offer. Thanks for listening

It's his own damn fault for not doing his research. I've never bought anything on ebay without checking out the price elsewhere. His mistake. Make him pay or report him....It's not your fault.

although it is nice that he offered to pay the fees.

My advice is to let him out of the deal if he pays the eBay fees. If you really need to sell the guitar, just relist it. You're opening yourself up to a world of hurt if you sell it to him for a lower price. He has already demonstrated that he's not trustworthy.

What will you do when you ship the guitar to him and he finds some other issue to complain about? When he reverses payment through PayPal, what will you do? Trust me, it's not worth it.

The guy already {censored}ed you once. Don't let him {censored} you again.

That's the second time I've heard about this 'payment reversal'. Under what terms can they do that and how the {censored} is it permissible?

Every time I get paid via Paypal I withdraw it immediately to another account, but still.

{censored} him. Make him pay in full. Ebay prices are ridiculas these days especially ebay UK, there is no deals to be had the only thing that goes for a steal is parker guitars (a tip for UK forumites) for some reason. The way I look at it is if idiots want to pay over the top for gear then fine but since I am not getting any deals I'll sell my {censored} for the most money possible. I am just about to put up an Option 5 Destination Overdrive, a BYOC 250+ and a Metal Zone to help fund a recording volumes tube amp and you can be certain my BIN price will be above what I think they are worth. Good for me? Yes. Ethical? Probably not but I figure if I can't buy used gear for fair prices it is only fair I can sell it for inflated ones.

There are some sleazebags out there who will purchase an item with their credit card through paypal. Once they find out that you have shipped, they reverse the credit card charges, and get the said item. BTW, if that account you are sending your money to from paypal is tied to your paypal account, the funds will get drawn from their anyway, or at least as much as they can...from what I have heard.

This is what I did. Not what I want to do, but I'm not comfortable dealing with this guy any more and the $15 for fees he offered me will cover another sell I made :o

The thing is, you can't MAKE him pay in full. You can only TRY to make him pay by threatening to leave a negative and to report him as non-paying bidder. If he doesn't pay after you threaten him, you can report him and leave the negative, but you still don't get paid. If you leave a negative, he sure as hell will be leaving a retaliation negative, and a negative against a seller is much worse than a negative against a buyer...

It isn't. Not even the same bank.

But how do they do the actual reversal? Do they make a claim against you or what? And why aren't there measures to stop that {censored}?
