Listening to the Great Deciever Boxset (King Crimson)

The fuzz on the violin and electric piano is so warm, and Fripp's tone is just unreal... how does the get those low evil spiky flares?? Feedback? Anyone ever catch his analog era techniques in action?

neck pickup, tone knob rolled back, fuzz box (he used several, most notably the Guild Foxey Lady...but anything Muff-like will do the trick.)

that box set smokes. that lineup of KC is one of my favorite bands, ever.
