Members nagukush
Hi Friends ! I usually connect my Electric Guitar to the Line-In of my Soundcard (Audigy-4). Is it possible to connect the Guitar thru a Boss Metal Zone Pedal and then into the line-in ? ie, Guitar -----> Metal Zone Pedal ------> Line-In of Computer Sound Card (Audigy-4) Will the output of the Pedal be too much that it may harm the Soundcard of my PC ? Is it really safe to play and record this way ? REGARDING BOSS METAL ZONE (MT2) Also wanted to request you to kindly let me know if BOSS MT2 (Metal Zone) is a good pedal ? I've heard that its pretty difficult for a beginner to get good sound settig out of it - True ? If yes, then if anybody could kindly guide me a little on the settings, it'll be very helpful. Kindly advice and help me.Take care and Have a Great Weekend !Thanks and RegardsKush
Members PFDarkside
You can, I used a Boss OD-2 direct into the sound card for a couple of solos on our album, using plug-ins for delay and reverb. It didn't sound very good though, I think you need an amp/cab simulator to get it to sound like it should. Regarding the volume issue, just keep the output down on the pedal. Somewhere around noon should be unity gain for line level, just start low and ease it up. Overall, this is what they make PODs for though... For directly plugging into a computer, you should look into some sort of amp modeling.
Members waveman
Get a Beheringer X-Vamp for that on the cheap. You can get them for $45-55 and sound great for direct recording. Or get a cheap DI box, and run it through it.

Members mike.sartori
Yeah, metal zone aside, distortion pedals don't really sound good plugged into computers. They sound flat, and fizzy, even if it's lower gain than a metal zone, they sound like too much gain.
Members Lanefair
That sounds like a recipe for horrible noise. I would definitely use some kind of amp/cab/mic sim.
Members nagukush
Hi Friends ! Thanks for all the kind help and suggestions. Actually I'm planning to connect it to the PC only temporarily. I've ordered an Amp and as there are no Music shops in the place where I live, I guess it'll take some time for it to arrive... Actually I have ordered a Marshall MG50DFX (its the best that I could afford) - Is this one good ? any ideas ? Thanks again. RegardsKush

A metal zone is a pedal that most people will not be able to get a tone they like out of, but to each his own so it might work for you. 2. When going into your computer there are a lot of other factors involved the main being using a DI box or DI box into a preamp etc. So I don;t know how well it will work straight in, although I imagine you won't be risking damaging anything too much. 3. As for your amp I am sure that it will be fine for your needs, most people prefer tube amps and high end gear but that isn't feasible for everyone and that Marshall will probably do you proud at least for now. When you get it try and get a hold of a semi-decent dynamic mic and a mic-pre for your soundcard, you will undoubtedly get better results than you will straight in. Hope that helps. Members Uma Floresta
Get a copy of the program Native Instruments Guitar Combos. It's a nice, inexpensive way to record direct to your computer. And yes, you can use your Metal Zone.
