Why do ebay auctions call 90's gear vintage?

A little OT, but my buddy and I are buying some old NES games on ebay (Should have done that about 5 years ago ) and I love when someone calls SMB3 rare. It's the best selling game of all time... for any system.

Stuff like Boss CE-5 and MT-2 are the same.

ive heard the general rule of thumb is 20 years is vintage. the older you get the more often youll say, "vintage? thats not vintage! oh, right. im just old."

a lot of people do use the term vintage liberally.

Well, 20 years is an antique for a car, but I'm goddamned if I'm going to look at a 1987 Camry and not laugh my ass off if it has an antique license plate.

they are classic rock. always were. the stations here were playing them by the late 90s

Yeah I know. It's just hard getting used to bands I listened to when they were new, what seems, not too long ago, being played on 'Classic Rock' stations alongside music from the 60-80's.

To me, the term vintage is anything over 20 years old. Example, I have a Vintage Vantage, say that 3 times faster, VS600 from 1981. I consider that a Vintage. I have a discontinued Korg G3 from about 94 I think. A huge difference.

I have no problem with stuff in the 80's being called vintage, it is 15+ years old...but 90's stuff, I don't think so.

Who thinks their second album was complete {censored}? Me.

I said that about their first album, too.

In 1994/5 I was too into 'Transmissions from the Satellite Heart' and Neil Young to waste my time with 'I DINMEANTA TREATCHA OHSOBAAD!'

I agree anything 80's could be called vintage.
