Members Voltaire
I own a GNX2 digitech effect pedal. It's great and all...but it's humongous, and of course-digital. I'm looking for a single distortion pedal, something extremely high-gain.An alternative to the boss mt-2. I play death metal/black metal, I've been looking at pedals like. the rocktron metal planet but I haven't been able to test anything out other then the MT-2.. because sadly that's all that the shops in my area have that are really high-gain. That and the line 6 uber metal, but that too is digital and i'm looking to stray away from the digital side. so, any suggestions, i'd be grateful. i haven't seen any metal distortion pedal threads.. so.. yeah.. -lengthy post sorry- for anyone curious.. i use an agile ghost 2 (basically explorer) with kent armstrong ultra distortion pickup in the bridge and a bill lawrence 500xl in the neck. through a peavey TNT 150 bass amp. (i know it's a bass amp.)

Members beardcom
having relatively little experience with either, i recommend the zoom tri metal and ehx metal muff (the full sized one) based on what i've heard. im obligated to say, of course, that good metal distortion is all about the amp, but yeah. tri metal, they're cheap. Members Voltaire
it's funny you mention a vintage svt, I just passed one up a few weeks ago. i'm going to try a decent tube amp eventually... see it was either a car or a quality amp. Members beardcom
I also hear really good things about the boss heavy metal (older better version of the metal zone i guess), there is one near me for 40 bucks.

Members g3rmanium
I'm looking for a single distortion pedal, something extremely high-gain. Insane gains: Zoom Tri-Metal. High gain: Rocktron Zombie. I prefer the Zombie over the Tri-Metal. The Tri-Metal sounds pretty static and lifeless like most diode clippers. Members FLYING V 83
Yeah, the Fang is my newest "favorite" metal pedal for sure! Like I said though, the Metal Planet is a great pedal and you'd be happy.

Members SirJackdeFuzz
metal muff all the way!!! . . . if you are on a budget, you can get away with this pedal and a super loud single channel amp - instead of a dedicated uber-expensive hi-gain metal like amp !! Members SirJackdeFuzz
{censored}e - i forgot about the Rocktron Zombie - kinda like a Mesa in a pedal - ideal for poor bastards who can not afford four full-stack, RoadKings, like ME !!!
