Keeley Mod for a DS-1

I'm trying to decide if it's worth $75 to mod my DS-1. I've heard great things about Keeley, and his description is encouraging. I run a Strat through a Deluxe Reverb, and I'm trying to get a fuller, richer distortion. I love the DS-1, but it's missing "something." Any experience with the Keeley DS-1?

You might. I have a Keeley-modded TS-9 and do like the mods alot, though a completely different animal from the DS-1.

For that kind of scratch, though, I'd be more inclined to go for the MI Audio Crunchbox, which would only be one more Andrew Jackson used.

If you feel comfortable soldering, there are blueprints out there to let you do his mods yourself. It would run you about 15-20 bucks in parts and about an hour or so worth of work.

I have the DS-Ultra and it's a great mod. It still has the characteristics of a stock DS-1 tone but it's fatter and way smoother. Quieter too.

+1 on the M.I Audio Crunch Box. My rhythm guitarist uses it for smaller gigs and practice sessions and it kicks ass :thu:

Cool, thanks for the input. I checked out some of the MI clips, very nice. Can someone provide a link where I can find more information on modding my DS-1 myself? Thanks.

Thanks again. Modding it myself looks a little too complicated as I have little experience working with electronics. I may have a go at some used fuzz pedals instead, but I do plan on sending my bd-2 to Keeley at some point.

Excellent. wacopacco made a vid for the Keeley-modded BD-2, and it sounds really tasty! I'm sure it will not disappoint.

BTW, the State quote in your sig rocks! I wish they'd come out with a proper DVD.

Ha ha, thanks. Yeah, that show was hilarious. There have been many online petitions to MTV to release it on DVD. Apparently the only hold up is that the show used real songs in the skits and with all the corporate, copywritten, everyone-gets-a-piece bull{censored} that is the music industry, it'll never happen unless they replace all the music with muzak. :freak:

That stinks. I have a friend who bought an unofficial DVD that was floating on e-Bay. I'm a little annoyed that Reno 911 has a whole movie coming out; nothing except for Stella has really done it for me in terms of State alums branching out. Aside from some random Michael Ian Black here and there.
