Members beardcom
albini is all over the place. the pedal didn't sound so hot in this clip, but he also seemed very confused by it. want a tiny terror.
Members pandadan
Seemed a balanced and fair review. The bp-1 sounded like balls compared to the original. At least he explained why. Steve should be a sport and open up his pedal and do some gut shots to send to the Barge Concepts guys. more Albini HP reviews
Members jussi_k
he's so funny. but totally I don't get those things on his feet in the beginning? And I wish he would have actually played bit more too.

Oh yeah in regards to him being an asshole, my friend recorded a session with him and said he was frighteningly polite, more than happy to impart studio technique advice and was dropping plenty of Big Black anecdotes through the entire session. I was a little disappointed it must be said.

Members fuzzinator
Wow - that BP-1 sounds like ass. I wonder what this one sounds like compared to the original:http://pages.prodigy.net/chuckcollins/percolator.html The Chuck Collins has always gotten pretty fair reviews. I actually bought one from Barge just prior to them releasing the BP-1 - must have used it for reverse engineering and/or comparision to their circuit. I quite like it. I'm guessing that the original IHPs sound the way they do down to component drift - that's what 30 year old electronic circuits do. Barge is convinced that they nailed the original circuitry. There was an interesting article on their site about the lengths they went to to get it right. I'm still curious to try one. I think the circuit, regardless of who makes it, is amp and guitar dependent. Sometimes it sounds great, other times, it's a bit fizzy and noisy. I get some great classic 70s lead tones out of it - it never seems to get out of control, which is what I was expecting it to do. For those who think it's Albini in a box, they are going to be sadly disappointed when they get a hold of a HP clone.
Members Televator
While I agree that his samples of the BP-1 didn't sound much like his sample of the HP-1, it really didn't look like he even knew how to use the BP-1. He even says that he doesn't know what half of the knobs do, and just guess at what functions the footswitches are activating / deactivating.
