Members Ara Ajizian
Look, I'm really sorry I have pissed off so many of you. I only hope you can understand my frustration with being someone who actually gives a {censored} about this site, and only getting {censored} on and insulted in return. I know it sucks when the forums keep going down. But all I can do about it is complain to IT and let them know. Like I said, I don't work in that department. I gave #16 (hi Bridget) a temp ban because I really felt he was just trying to be rude right off the bat, and even after I had tried to give you guys some answers, the bashing just kept up on me, led by him. That's the part that really bugs me, that I answered your questions as best I could, yet you still kept coming at me, "Why didn't this happen six months ago?" etc. AFAIK six months ago there weren't any problems. I've been experiencing these latest problems for a couple of weeks (the intermittent downtimes). It bugs me too, but again, I don't work in the IT department. I explained as best I could that the problems are not happening regularly and they are having difficulty figuring out exactly what's causing them. I had hoped to get a "Cool dude, thanks for the answers" but instead I got attacked. And by the looks of the front page, that will continue. I started posting in the forums more because I wanted to interact more with the community...after all, that's what this site is all about. I play guitar and bass, I've written about gear, and I love what I do. I certainly didn't come here to make enemies and piss people off. If anything, I tried to be the one to come here and give people some answers from the inside, hence the original announcement I posted about the forum issues. Anyway, I won't be hanging out here much. I'll stick to moderating posts that get reported and not worry so much about the rest. I apologize for pissing you all off, but I hope you understand why I reacted the way I did. I'll go ahead and reinstate #16, but dude, please don't insult people that really do care about the site. We all have frustrations we have to deal with.

Members Wilbo26
So can we get a confirmation or denial that the IT has been outsourced to a non-english speaking country and MF is being cheap with server bandwidth??? This day was so reminiscent of the Jazz Ad fiasco its not even funny.

Members Ara Ajizian
Wilbo-- Really, it's not a bandwidth issue at all. MF has a massive bandwidth agreement...from what I heard recently the company doesn't come close to going over what they have. And as for the IT dept, keep in mind that they also have to maintain the MF.com site as well as HC. Guess which one of those makes more money? And trust me, if these guys say it's not that easy to figure out what's wrong, they mean it. We have a lot of really smart people in IT, and I never feel like they give me the runaround on stuff. I'll accept that. Just really acted like some places do when they're having bandwidth issues, and it would be really silly if all of this was just caused by that. Hopefully they figure it out soon because it really is starting to detract from the forum. Erskin really nailed it earlier when he commented that its really hard to get good threads going when the place is freezing up or dropping so often. There's always going to be bitching but I think most people try to be really patient, but as I'm sure you know its getting ridiculous.

Members Ara Ajizian
Correct me if I'm wrong, but what I experience is that the forum will start to slow down, then you get a blank page if you click a link, then you get the Holiday Makeover, right? And all of that takes place in about two or three minutes? Then within five, it's usually back up again. That's what happens to me, and I get it a few times a day. That and then there's also the odd multiple post or the page starts to load in a way that never completes (the progress bar just fills and empties over and over). I'm gonna laugh when it turns out to be a missing comma in one of the config files.

Sometimes it just hangs for a minute and then pops back up with some double post action. I get the Holiday banner 4-6 times a day on average, and it seems to hang or freeze at least once every hour, often a lot more than that. Seriously...just getting them to change the makeover banner back to the default one would go a long way.
